To be honest the more im thinking about it, the more you are all right.

Most of the people in the office use cars so i guessed thats why I felt I had to. I would normally get 8.50 for my bus pass, and using the drop offs for the bag would cost me 30 mins, but like you say... overtime.

hmmm...

I might tell them that i dont wanna use my car after all!

my car guzzles petrol too. good point peeps!

Am horrified that anyone is considering or using cars on delivery, the day the mail goes missing is the day you probably lose your job and still have to pay the excess on your cars insurance for the damage done getting the mail out... you would be surprised how you can be watched without having a clue. With the recession, never get complacent........... I had an HCT broken into twice in a year and I live in a quiet area.

Lightbulbs are a bloody joke and they are the bane of my life. The way i do my bags works out so that its 4 full bags of mail, with just enough room for parcels on top. But if I have bulbs then I cant fit them in too and it knacks up my whole walk.

Ive got about 30 packs of bulbs that i aint delivered so far this week. Might just do them all in my car on my thursday off lol

Dont take your car-they wont thank you and you could kill someone like the bloke in Brentwood the other week You have to live with it and for what?

Dont take out overweight bags they wont say thank you and you will need your back when you are old

Your H & S is first above all else good luck

I only wanna use my car for my own benefit. I insured it fully comprehensive with business use cover. so it should be okay.

Using the bag boxes in my area cost me about 30 mins extra.

Ive been booking overtime in for the last week or two, but this week has been light so far. ill see what happens today. Maybe because i put over time in they decided to get people to put my frame up faster.
Using the boxes cost RM an extra 30mins, not you :cool

My personal opinion is that you don't use your car but I cannot force you not to but ask you to think about all the consequences before you do.
if you want overtime why give up that 30 minutes - just a thought

I use my car but only to take the first bag. I park up and then I do not move the car at all until I have finished the walk. Driver drops remaining bags. Some drivers are not happy about it because I am using my car they think I should take all my bags. Tough. If your bags are late, just book docket-waiting for bags.

And are you properly insured for conveying business mail?

Hi fella,
like u i enjoyed my first 6months in the job but don't expect it to always be that way! You might find your frame prep (that's what you mentioned?) disappears altogether one day and this is more likely if you rush round and start getting back early. You will then be buggered on heavy days as no matter how quick u go u won't be able to complete the duty without overtime. Great u might think, well not if your manager starts bullying you into not claiming OT saying other people can do the round without claiming etc etc. You end up under a lot of pressure and the job goes from enjoyable to a bloody nightmare. Combine that with your knee and backach you will develop after a couple of years of taking heavy bags and rushing round. 4 bags doesn't sound enough, you may need to put more out? Are you aware your bag must be lighter when delivering to flats than houses? You need to observe bag weight for your own health, more important that the car issue.

you need you rep onside if you need help with your walk and to stop the intimidation.
If your walk is bad, you can get it tested, your prep rate, time out to delivery, someone to go with you to your delivery, then they should be able to verify the porblem, just make sure the bosses don't hold back any mail to make it look lighter than it really is.

I went into work yesterday to find that although everyone was prepped, bagged up and ready to go... I had a box full of letters on my frame to prep.. Not TOO bad i thought, then someone says "theres a load of mail for you streeted over there".

So I looked and sees about 12 piles of letters for me to sort!

So i was out over 1hr later than the rest. They admitted the problem, are okay about my overtime and they said they are gonna rectify it this week because its wrong that im being left behind every day. And not fair.

Fingers crossed :)

Yeah im on 25hr contract.

I have my walk down to the standard 3.5hrs which is what its meant to be, however Ive never took a break, and saturdays are the only time I get my first letter posted by 10.30 ish. I never get out of the office before 10 like everyone else.
