Very highly paid contractors with no knowledge of the business, bullying and harrassment rife, staff 'encouraged' to leave, people off sick with stress, grievances, withholding of pay rises, mandatory (not voluntary) six week christmas working and the good old CMA response is..........................deafening in its silence.
Bet you could tell a tale or two?
Yes I could, being in for well over 30 years I have never seen such cut-throat attitudes, mainly from managers brought in from external companies. I've seen people with 30 years service in a room on their own on the last day of service after agreeing a change to their contract (we don't get offered VR because it doesn't cost in!) and they literally left their mobile and laptop on a desk and walked out of the office. No 'good-bye', no 'thanks for your efforts'. No doubt the CWU will find out the rest of what is going on if/when the CMA sees fit to pass the information on.

wether or not they agree with what they are told to do. It's a shame as i guess there might just be one or two who could be good managers if they were led by some other regime not like the 'asda' one lateone and crazier think is great.
royal fail seem to be under the illusion that fear , bullying and harrasement is the way to go to and is all apparent in the way things are now done within royal fail.
Just maybe it's the result of being fed bullshi* on a daily bassis at the conference calls they dissapear to all to regulary. :hmmmm wonder if they do star jumps at the conference call .........of course only if the big man tells them
that's not fact, but your opinion.

That old cop-out. The old "I'm still bottom of the ladder 'cos I speak my mind" excuse. :left:
More like he's down there because he's crap at his job...
In my two years in the job, I've found if you're crap, you get punted further up the heirarchy   .....true story, we had a temp postman, that was woeful ( regularly taking 12 hrs on an 8 hr duty :left: ) he's now the late shift manager
very true , get 4 1-2 years to sort a place out - fail obviously - get promoted to Area manager - they call it the Peter Principle - then RM bring in a Supermarket style Troubleshooter - one of :lfo 's lovechildren - you don't get that far by 32 , unless you've told RM what they want to hear - also it's easy improving a place which was run badly - " D**ek in Wonderland " - then they had to bring him back - little issues like "accounting problems " and " Big Al's lovechild's replacement having to " per-sue another career" .

There was another one which got promoted , nothing to do with being under a cloud from another area and little issues like blue bags ' disappearing "and a police investigation into a Ram Raid on the locker in his next Office - I'm absolutely convinced it was pure coincidence .

I can actually believe the stuff about non - operations - things did get very silly and got taken to literal extremes in another Industry prior to Privatization - some of the idiots in charge - the extremes they went to - all down to typically poor selection and recruitment - propaganda and brainwashing was relentless - the H&S meetings I'd to go to were surreal .

the bit about people from outside the Industry is an interesting one - people have noticed a few simarilities between RM & Asda , can't think why !

Their Forum is interesting too , this one isn't the only one for disgruntled staff !

Some are bitter jobbing "average " linos - so Tman has a point to an extent , problem is more to do with mIddle management - the British disease ? only to extremes with RM

There is a reason I am an "Ex".. they offered me a ton of money to go and made my life very difficult because I wasn't an obsequious, visionless ass kisser. Like everywhere, those who do not challenge the status quo are promoted, those with ideas - but not too many ideas - get promoted, and those who are prepared to challenge the views of others become sidelined. As I was.

I always say there are good and bad posties, and there are good and bad managers. The trouble with RM is that apart from the Operational side of the work they do there is no proper training, everything is learnt "on the job" and there is no formal training in people or resource management, problem solving or handling personal and personnel situations, and because of this some managers struggle and this causes resentment both up and down the chain of command.

Can't speak for anyone else, I was trained only on what they legally had to,not what was useful.

Fundamentally, my problem there was I wouldn't shut up and do as I was told, but vocally asked them difficult questions and offered differing opinions.

And time has proven me right. I wish it hadn't.

Then you have the paradox ,if you have ability aptitude and potential ,you are a potential threat to your immediate boss. Self preservation kicks in, and no one in power wants to be eclipsed by a Johny come lately and the establishment protects the mediocre. The more they are threatened the tighter they grip :Very Happy

Shame isn't it? They attack those who do not agree yet pretend to be 'forward thinking'.
