Deputy Managers - Worse than strike breakers?

In our office area they are asking for DEPUTY MANAGER'S (acting manager's). Now haveing seriously considering my present position i am now i a dilema SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO to the darkside of the coffee machine or the fluffy side of the team leader !. How would my DOM react if i went to one extream or another would he even care?. What if if all went tit's up will he help me?. What if all the nasty postmen/women turned around and said enough is enough and i ani't working over nor comeing in early?. Id would be FU*KED no thank's i will take my chances in the rank's and not to mention all the management redundences that will be comeing up the DEPUTY MANAGER'S will have to go back to thier old job's if their is no vacancy for them!.

If it was our DOM he'd help your by snipping behind your back then waiting to come in for the kill,of course he would'nt do it he would get one of his mates to do it,you should see what he's done to one of the managers, still of on long term sick,never gonna return.
If someone said do you think he's spineless snipe i would have to be honest and say yes,stay this side of the coffee machine you know who you can trust and who you should be wary of besides the coffee is coffee and not laced with anything.

look at what went wrong with Burslem when they sent people in to soften the Union up ? - to get themselves out of the corner they'd backed themselves into , RM had to put posties on loosely drawn up , vague and obscure charges or use slippery Solicitors outside the PO

In a vaguely similar Industry - all you got was Concentration Camp Management -" as long as so and so is in trouble , I'm allright " - the CBI dismissed that style as inefficient

The other consequence is people that are scared of their own shadow which causes problems - I got two books from the Library about that Industry - one was written by a General Manager who had a huge patch - he was scathingly critical - the other by a top journalist who couldn't believe the paranoia amongst managers and staff - the difference between the anonymous quotes and the official line was amazing

you have to look at a long line of cause and effect with RM and where it goes back to - answers on a postcard please !
