Pouching off

Does anyone pouch off in the pouch replenishment boxes as is being proposed at our DO. A van picks up the pouched off mail/packets next day when dropping off bags. Surely mail integrity is in question if left in these overnight?

Just get it in writing from them and then, if anything goes wrong you'll be covered.

a lad was going to get suspended in our office for doing this,its an offence to leave anything in these boxes overnight,if the box gets broken into then you are in the s-it.

Most posties at my depot 'pouch off' all they do is hand whatever's left with the delivery card over the counter at any post office for the afternoon collections to pick up!!....simple!

it happens in one of the small DO's out of town that i sometimes get sent to. managers instruction. cant say for certain when they get emptied

Cant take them home so gotta leave them somewhere.

Thats why our cards have "Allow 48 Hours" on them.

It would take me 45 mins to walk to DO, then another 25 mins to walk home.
And I have a young child to get home for, so the only option is leaving in pouch boxes.

I think this leaving "Form Lefts" in pouch boxes will come in most places especially if the POs loose the POCA. However, with security concerns I would think that a normal pouch box would not do as I have heard of 2 Pouch Boxes being knicked in my area (yep the whole box - they did it at night though so all they got was a half eaten sandwich and empty bags ). I would get the local union rep to put some pressure on Management to install a High security Pouch Box on each walk so that they could be used overnight - or could they get more collection drivers to do it when they empty the post boxes and POs.

Whats the difference between a high security pouch box and a normal one? All ours say "high security" on them, but they don't look all that secure to me and we are not allowed to leave anything in them overnight.

I thought a normal box was one rusted to pieces or a plastic one held together with cable ties and the high security ones are the new ones that haven't been negleted for years

Do you put 48 hours on the P739 card like we have to? Increase this to 72 hours if need be. The fact you miss the van collection is not your problem. RM aint worried so why should you?

I don't agree either with these trolleys (HCT) being locked to lamp posts for staff to pick up and do their walks. What the hell are they thinking of?
