Come on board the Double-Deckers

I believe Royal Mail are investing heavily in expensive double-decker trailers, which is going to have a massive effect on everybody in Royal Mail, whether you work in Deliveries, Processing or Distribution.

For double-decker trailers to be efficient they need to be fully loaded, therefore by a natural consequence this means the dispatch times from Mail Centers around the Country will be later which in turn means later arrival times at local Mail Centers this will decimate the Night Distribution and Process duties in Mail Centers but the biggest impact will be in deliveries the earliest mail is going to be available is between 08.00 and 12 noon with probably 10.00 as the average put this together with the current last letter time of 14.00 maybe 15.00 in the future and the only way Royal Mail are going is to argue that they need at least 80% part-time jobs (25 hour contracts) because the work is not available earlier and that’s without taking into account walk sequencing.

If we can’t see the jigsaw pieces of the introduction of 25 hour contracts, walk sequencing, double-decker trailers, the turning of a blind eye to health & Safety by management and ourselves failing to do the job properly falling into place then maybe we all need to go to specsavers. £1.2bl of tax payers money being spent to worsen the service how good is that!! :cfo

This is probably why 8am-4pm has been bought up in our DO this week(not confirmed by management yet). I've heard the MC is going to get approx 11 artics in a day, very rarely see them at the moment. It should be fun watching them trying to turn round in our yard

We were told this week that we are moving to 0630-1430 for full time and 0820-1420 and 0920 - 1420 for part time staff due to this, from 24th November. The best of it is (as of yet) RM do not have an operators licence for these vehicles! You really could not make it up.

We are getting these in our office not turning up until 4 in the morning with 40 yorks on nights finish at 6 so who is going to tip and sort that lot, what happens when that double decker breaks down they don't seem to give one jot about quality it's just about saving money and all this just as christmas pressure hits
