Unit Flexibilty and Effiency Plan Phase 3
please forgive my ignorance as i dont see the connection between low traffic figures and the significant reduction in walking time being quoted which allows the extra walks to be performed. You go to a house with 5 letters or 9, you still go to the house. Similarly the introduction to the P and M agreement commits both parties to "Both Royal Mail and CWU are jointly committed to working together to deliver that change by agreement" i repeat by agreement. Also phase 3 clearly states "To creates a working environment where employees, CWU reps and managers feel valued and motivated." i am not saying this applies to everyone but i certainly dont feel valued or motivated.
Finaly in annex b of LTB 560/08 for D.O's specifically it says " To jointly identify/implement genuine opportunities " 2 words spring out to me that are not being applied, jointly and genuine

Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Yes surely the covering lapsed rounds must be based on call rate for that day and not actual traffic figures.
I mean the chances of getting 1 bulk mailing for all delivery points and hardly anything else is slim, but the chance is still there. In the present system you would still have to do the lapsed round within your time, but how much time would you have if you had to call to every DP on your own duty.

Summer staffing ended on Saturday at my office,I think I took out the '15' minutes ,2-3 times in total through the whole summer, why?,cos I did the job properly, came in on time, took my meal break (mainly out on the round, its a rural delivery)and either finished on my time,or claimed the OT,Happy Days
if they want to add more to the delivery, fine,I'll finish on my time and then they can pay somebody else to take the cut off out.
And it defies belief, but there are still Posties in my office running round taking their own cars
The days of job and finish are gone, and thank f**k for that,it has done more to kill this job than anything else.

As to cars on deliveries it looks like it soon could come to an end, after the terrible accident in essex where a 61yr old lady was knocked down and killed. As usual it takes a death to stop a bad practice.

If management are arguing that traffic is down then this should be challenged.
The reason why it should be challenged is that they are not comparing like for like. Remember the reason why delivery re enginering was introduced was that Royal mail believed that delivery offices weighing traffic was overstating traffic by as much as 12 per cent.
So if traffic is now showing that it is lower due to traffic now being weighed in mail centres that does not mean work has decreased in deliveries from last year just that it is more accutely measured.
You as a rep or your rep is entitled to all figures past and present at their weekly rescouing meeting and can use the full times of the ir framework if they are not in agreement with the managers proposals

To measure by weight would be ludicrously inaccurate and pointless, when the auto systems count to an individual letter.
Problem being that that is not how volumes are measured. So if traffic is now showing that it is lower due to traffic now being weighed in mail centres that does not mean work has decreased in deliveries from last year just that it is more accutely measured.

And also it would show up royalmails accounting procedures for what they are!.To Tman (why does your defence of royalmail position so definine every post you so make are you are manager? or are you just defending a postion of hate toward's postmen/women in general?) For the weight does make a differance to most postmen and postwomen in that is called injury by the weight of the mail and of the failed procedure's by the management by thier negligence to the fact their of!. HIDEING BEHIND FIGURE'S WILL NOT PROTECT YOU IF YOU ARE A MANAGER!.Tman wrote:[Problem being that that is not how volumes are measured. So if traffic is now showing that it is lower due to traffic now being weighed in mail centres that does not mean work has decreased in deliveries from last year just that it is more accutely measured.

Tman your missing the point ! If Royal mail introudced Delivery engineering into delivery offices because wla by weight was in their view overstating traffic compared to revenue, then how can they now claim traffic has fallen. Is it not logical to say that if traffic is now more accurate then its still the same traffic as was previously performed in a delivery office.
I totally accept due to downstream access that the price of each bag has reduced. But have yet to be convinced that traffic has reduced as Royal Mail have never measured like for like.

I'm telling you the way it is. If you take any post that you personally disagree with as being either from a manager or "defending a postion of hate" then I can only think you're wasting your time on a talking shop like RMC.To Tman (why does your defence of royalmail position so definine every post you so make are you are manager? or are you just defending a postion of hate toward's postmen/women in general?)
[/quote]I'm sure weight makes a big difference to delivery posties, but that's FA to do with the strange assertion that mail volumes are ascertained by weight, and unfortunately writing with the caps lock on doesn't give your post any (more) meaning either. For the weight does make a differance to most postmen and postwomen in that is called injury by the weight of the mail and of the failed procedure's by the management by thier negligence to the fact their of!. And then the figgures get ''adjusted'' for the false accounting thats inherent with anything that royal fail say is a truthful representationTman wrote:[

So how do they "adjust" real-time reports?
I can understand cynicism, but sometimes even Masterspies have to accept the reality of the situation.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
