Couple of the lads this is affecting got their heads together and contacted our area rep(bypassing our chocolate fireguard office rep).

He phoned this morning but its our DUMS day off. He will be on the phone to the DUM first thing tomorrow to put a stop to this happening. :Applause

When our office rep found out his response was, "Well you will end up absorbing walks more often now cos duty holders wont work their days off".

Wouldnt you think he would be pleased that these lads are going to be treat fairly in future.

The fact he has worked his day off for the last 7 weeks(on his own duty) had no bearing on this statement I presume.
Well done speedy mate :Applause :Applause :Applause

The amount of people(him included) who come in early, use cars, miss breaks etc etc in our office is unreal. :arrrghhh

But when he gets told we have to lapse he accepts it without a fight, and his lambs follow in his footsteps. Then they rush round like lunatics to get it done, and even go to do their part of the lapsed walk in their cars. :d'oh!

I am one of the floaters affected by this original post and due to return to work next week. I have been informed that the DOM has had 2 of my colleagues in the office regarding the matter and has baffled them. He then informed them that if they go through with this that he will start running the office by the book, for example no swapping days off etc, etc, etc. It sounds like he could turn a few colleagues against us ?
The way things are at the minute in the office we are more like reserves than floats. We have all worked hard over the years to get away from the reserve position (no dis-respect to a reserve) and the float duty gives us the chance to carry out a duty which for that day belongs to us. Its great knowing what you are doing each day (well it was).
I believe duty holders have taken their walk based on a five day week and for the sixth day the duty belongs to the floater.

My question is do we have a case and stick to our guns or do we fold and continue being moved here there and everywhere to allow duty holders to work their days off on o/t on their ownd walks.

john199 Welcome to RMC :wave Do me a favour mate and get in touch with your Area rep and your Doms boss and tell them whats been going on at your place, the sooner this s**t is out in the open the better.Your Dom is taking the out and out piss and your so called colleagues are no better. You are Rest Day covers who cover those walks when these tossers are on there day off.If they want to come in and do docket fine, but they must pick up a duty that is vacant or the duty holder is off sick.If they dont want to do that then tough fecking s**t.Sorry about my language but this makes me :evil/madStick to your guns mate and you will win :Very Happy

I think you'll find that they try to run the office by the book but are totally incapable

It's fun to just do your job and let the DOM deal with the crap he causes.

IMHO i would stick to my guns. If your DOM want to try and blame you for his actions ,let him. Make your area rep aware of what he said though. If he wants to try and use you and colleagues as scapegoats ask him for an idividual grievance from then make your DOM aware that you understand exactly what he means and that you will be persuing this matter via the idividual greivance proceedure.
Finaly ask them why they are at present not running the office by the book, and a copy of the book he is refering to.
