It's the same in my DO, nothing has been mentioned
so I can only assume that this year will be a total disaster
Maybe this is their plan, provide a really bad service over Christmas and whenever it goes tits up, blame the posties and go on a vicious campaign to cut terms and conditions

Is it true that the callers office has extended opening hours during xmas? Ours is only open from 8.30-13.30 so it wont be hard to extend ours!!!

Ours is already 7 til 7, apparently xmas opening is 6am til 7pm M-F, 6 til 5.30 Sat and 10 til 2 Sunday, I think there is a Door2Dustbin coming out in the next couple of weeks with the opening times on.

We don't have anything official in place yet but our rep had a meeting with our DOM yesterday and current management ideas include... no extra IPS hours, no nights or additional despatches from mail centre. No hire vans and hence no extra packet deliveries or relief collections. No casuals and leave reserves to be sent to other offices/mail centre... so all round total disaster really.

No details released or even suggested at our office yet but our rep has politely reminded the DOM that Christmas is coming and as we are struggling even now, that staff will not be prepared to deliver into the dark every night to cover short staffing.
DOM replied "I can show you half a dozen people that will work late"
Rep replied "I can show you 50 that won't"
TRUMPED I guess
-------------------------------------------------------
Every business I know and every one I have previously worked in invests money and logistics in it's busiest periods to ensure success, whereas RM seem to think that all it needs to do is kick it's employees a bit harder or tell them that failure will be their fault in order to get results. This comes from the top downwards and to be fair to most managers involved - they are told "work with what you have got - there is nothing else"
In many cases there will be no reaction until walks start to fail so it seems logical that the sooner that starts to happen then the sooner they will wake up to the fact that the resources we have are now at best very stretched. Something therefore will snap shortly - let's make sure it isn't us !!!

With our geo-route revision just still going on and nobody knowing the ips properly, it's going to be a disaster
Nothing has been mentioned to me about christmas yet and we have a new dim who is a right t__t so he won't get people doing
extra for him
40 hours for us and no more.
Try and work us harder then, we will just work at a steady pace and cut off.
