Have now been told that discussions are still ongoing as to whether we will be getting 27th as a non working day. As it stands we will be going in though...

Have also been told that Royal Mail would give us the 27th off if they can claim back the hours in the previous week. i.e. all staff to work 1 hour compulsory overtime during the week in exchange for sat 27th.

Not working over my hours during christmas pressure so it looks like ill be going in on the 27th. Bunch of scrooge b'stards...

It has always been like this i think they have one less bank holliday early'er in the year so as not to be unfair and hogmanay would not be the same without it!.

just been told my duty over xmas.....my day off is mon 22 in christms week,so i guess sat 27 is a normal day

It is a normal working day,but the business are not blocking any leave after xmas week,
so i've booked the day off.
normal rules,in terms of annual leave apply,so as long as the maximum number of people off
in any given week is not exceeded,you should be fine.
but hurry,because i don't think it's common knowledge we're working yet!

The DOM informed us as soon as the news broke and the wek before xmas and the week with the 27th in it (xmas week) are both blocked in terms of AL.

I've a days AL owing, so I went in the office this morning and asked for the 27th off, the answer was 'NO', no one is getting leave on that day.It'll be interesting to see how many managers turn up and if they do turn up I bet they will be on their way home 5 mins after we've gone out on our walks.
