Oh you are going to need the cards right enough, about 25% bugger up within an hour of leaving the office, one guy handed it to a customer to sign, she grabbed the machine pressing god knows which buttons and the PDA threw a wobbler and wouldn't reboot.

Broxi 151 Said "Good question dvb, We are doing the exact same thing as in your office except at 1pm we are blasting every special out on delivery as confirmed using the T&T system. The next morning we then allocate any specials brought back the day before & then bring them back in 5 minutes later as undelivered. The trace for an undelivered special will look like 3/11 at 10.55 am undelivered. 3/11 at 13.15 pm as delivered. 4/11 at 6.35 am out on another delivery. 4/11 at 6.40 am undelivered. Very professional "

Bloody Hell that does seem a convoluted way of doing things Broxi - you see my point is they should have disappeared from the list of identifiers IF the PDA system is working, which as far as I can tell it isn't, but I may well stand corrected if anybody has any more info. We've also had a problem with them failing to upload data and then not allowing it to be used the next day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make's you all wonder how many spl's have failed i know of one case where 12 spl's got brought back by the driver at 1 o'clock as he had no card's on him. It's not his fault just royalmail's total disreguard of the postalworker's opion's as to how effective they are in use on a day to day basis!. I can see big problems with these most unsuitable device's more money wasted on a whim and a prayer by two numb nut's :cfo & :lfo and thier boss :mfo !.

They should have trialled it in extreme weather and realsitic working conditions to see if it can take the knocks

The girl that was installing ours told me that a couple of offices had refused to handle them unless they were exempt from being liable to any damages to them, apparently they are worth a fortune

I think you'll find that RM have to pay the service charge whether they work or not (probably for several years).

Was told today that the system cost 63million to install. In an effort to combat claim payouts. Don't know if it is as much as that. But can't be worth the money.

Maybe it does more like read gas meter's electric meter's and water meter's and other thing's but it is no good doing those thing's if it don't do the job we need if for in the first place!. It is a management problem created by management so management can solve it or get new manager's!.
