LIVERPOOL’S Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation charity has worked with city centre postal workers to increase awareness of the disease.
Three hundred Copperas Hill sorting centre staff, including 53 smokers, were polled ahead of November’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Since the survey, more than over 70% of those polled said they have since made their home and car smoke-free.
Study author Tina Williams said: “Making people aware that lung cancer can be cured if diagnosed early enough and increasing people’s confidence to deal with and not ignore certain symptoms of ill health will do much to help reduce the tragic waste of lives to this disease.
“One of our main hurdles to overcome is the stigma and victim blaming associated with lung cancer.”

There won't be any smokers at the Copperas Hill sorting centre soon.
