Businesses saw one of the UK’s biggest technology-based change programmes in action when Royal Mail hosted a tour of its Mallusk office.

The seminar, organised by the Centre for Competitiveness (CforC), gave the postal giant the chance to show off five different new leading-edge technology changes which were introduced to “improve customer service and boost performance to firms”.

Five Royal Mail and CforC experts chaired a question-and-answer session before a tour of the facility for business people from five local firms.

The aim of the event was to explain how the technology is used and what impact it has had.

CforC chief executive, Bob Barbour (pictured with David Peden of Royal Mail at the Mallusk sorting office) said: “Royal Mail has invested significantly in the latest technology which has improved internal efficiency and customer service. Not all organisations will be able to invest a large amount of money in technology; however, the principles behind Royal Mail’s new systems are relevant to all businesses.

“The message to business leaders who attend is that continuous innovation is essential in order to boost performance and increase efficiency. This may mean investing in new technology to provide an edge over competitors. But it could simply mean adjusting products or services to capitalise on market shifts.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They are only taken through specific areas in the mail centre and only introduced to the yes men, I can guarantee that if they were to come to your office you would be let nowhere near them.
