You obviously cant or don't play the numbers game... Fact is, with a split vote in letters the other will walk into the position, thats why 1 of them needs to withdraw. but you seem to know better..
I dont play any games with the membership to get votes. i just hope the membership of northern ireland will see though those playing games to get elected for the benefit of no one but themselves..

What a pity you and others cant use these threads to have a proper debate without trying to kick people. I have no idea what you are refering to in your last comment. I like you (I assume you are a member) am a member of this Union / Branch (what ever it is called is neither here nor there) and am fed up with all this inhouse fighting, all that is asked is that the representatives do the job for the membership in dealing with the bread and butter issues like , Pensions, wages , H&S and all other working conditions and not to be continually fighting against each other but instead take the proper debates and arguments up with the employer., maybe that is to much to ask for.

a proper debate.. well get off your election soap box and lets have one. the topic is new imposed constitution for n, Ireland.
is it proper that a union disregard the democratic rights of its members and impose a branch constitution upon the membership. those people who put the imposed constitution together did so for the benefit of themselves... and the members know it. the membership have spoken when only 17 turned up at the special general meeting in Belfast to RATify the now imposed constitution. still these so called representatives hang on hang on for what? who are they representing is it the 17 members who turned up at the agm. so for the representatives to say lets do the job for the membership and deal with the bread and butter issues, what about the membership that never turned up at the agm have they now not spoken its very clear they dont want the present representatives. so what do the present representatives do they make up a crap constitution for the benefit of themselves and get it imposed upon the membership. what morals do those representatives have when they are prepared to sit with billy longshanks and feed of the crumbs he throws them just to rid the membership of their democratic rights. my answer none... they are no better than those who cross picket lines...

No soap box for me, not needed I have faith in my Rep to do a good job.

Constitution.. I,v just read (again) the copy I received in the post from HQ, and I can see no wrong or fault with the content, maybe you are not aware that it is mandatory for all branches to have a constitution which adopted conference policy from last year and the year before (read the LTB,s).
I have also looked at the constitutions adapted by other branches of the union within the UK , (check out other CWU Branch websites) and again I can't see much difference between theirs and the one now with us. And as democracy has it the members all had the chance and ability to change anything in the constitution before adapting it, remember as I have said before it is mandatory,
Members don't turn up to meeting because of apathy, not for the representatives but for the in house fighting, we don't need or want that.
I along with a lot of others will give support to the new Branch comittee (who ever they are when elected democratally) and if you are the trade unionist that you potray yourself as being, mayb you should do the same.!

I know it is mandatory but its not mandatory for it to be imposed, who made up the new constitution, where did it come from..your good at reading the ltbs go find 1 that says if no members turn up to a agm a new constitution shall be imposed upon a branch. you say I along with a lot of others will give support to the new branch, is the lot of others the 17 people who bothered to turn up to the agm.
I dont potray myself as anything i just know the meaning of the word democracy and i cant see the word imposed anywhere within that meaning.
I would support a new branch if it was all new faces on the branch committee, not the same plastic ones who are looking to get back on the gravy train.
now go and look at the union rule book and see if you can find the ruling that states if no members turn up at the agm the membership shall have a constitution imposed on them by plastic trade unionists..

democracy ?
Come on Marky lets be fair when using that word

If those that were on the BC before get re-elcted then that is the democratic will of the membership and you should accept that!

Or would rather an outright ban on previous members being allowed to stand again? Utimatley its for the membership to decide if those who seek election are up to the job and should be elected. If those who dont want those who were on the BC before elected then bloddy well make sure you stand yourselfs in order to give the membership a choice.

Yoy may not like the choice of the members but please dont go getting all bitter and twisted about it , but instead seek to provide them with a viable alternative they feel very strongly in favour of voting for.

As for the constitution, theres no reason it cant be changed by the incoming BC as long as its within national rules/guidelines.

So I say to you put all your energies in to selling to your fellow CWU members your prefered choice of BC members.

big daz is imposing a new Constitution on the membership... democracy ? its not in my book.
the members never had a choice. this is what this thread is about.
come the elections the membership will have a choice and vote in who they feel is best to represent them.
if i dont like there choice thats just hard luck nothing i can do about that but at least it will be the membership who will be making the choice not having it imposed on them...did the membership not make their choice when they failed to turn up at the agm,
i have and will be putting all what energies i have left into getting who i know are not plastic trade unionists votes from the membership.

So every set of constitution/standing orders for every branch been voted on by the membership of each and every branch? Is it in the national rule book to have a vote of the membership on these matters, unless it is then you need to concentate on changing what you dont like and then arranging for the new set up to be put to a vote.If those who think like you can form a majority on the BC then you can put a constitution to the vote, all is not lost put your enrgies on resolving the issue instead of complaining!

Well presented Big Daz, however I do not believe it will change Marky's viewpoint, if certain people of his choice do not get elected then he will probably go on the same hate trail against those who do, as he has and is now . mayb that will suit his agenda . continual kicking and no acceptance of democracy, thats Him.

As for the constitution Marky, you obviously do not do your homework, the NEC have the powers to imposed a constitution on any branch for the very reason that the new PC laws and conference policy need adapted, .. as I'v said before these parts ARE MANDATORY.If a branch can not quorate a meeting to accept/ adapt a constitution then the NEC have the powers in such a case. go check it out (phone orgainsing Dept (as I have done).. by the way as 99% of the constitution now with the N.ireland combined is a direct lift from the mandatory text that every branch must adapt, which part of the 1% can you disagree with.

could you find that bit that states the nec have the powers to impose a constitution on any branch and paste it on here ive looked and still cant find it. what rule book is it in. and if i was you i would go back to school.... 99.% of the constitution is not a direct lift from the mandatory text that every branch must adapt. those who have drank the soup have played a blinder in getting this constitution imposed upon the very membership they claim to represent... they have only the memberships best interests at heart they claim, buts its really there own interests they are looking after..
i shall put the 1% i disagree with on here when i get the time..at the minute im helping the non soup drinkers with their election campaign. had a good laugh at my lack of non acceptance of democracy.. I for 1 would not drink any soup or ass lick to try and get up the union ladder unlike some people.

I'm pretty sure this thread has run it's course - whatever the rights and wrongs - the constitution is - like laws there are good and bad ones - the officers of the union will be voted in and that will be that.
