1970's/80's/pt 90's PREP & DLY
Short ltr IPS Frame, long ltr IPS frame, Packet bag frame
.
Throw off your short ltr's then your long ltr's then your packets, which included all your flats.
Then take all the mail out of your 1st hole and run it in, ie small piles of mail 1 to 10 and 11 to 20 and 21 to 30
ect then run the mail in 1,3,5,7,9 or 2,4,6,8, ond so on. bundle it up move to next hole and so on.
Using frames that look like IPS ltr frames of today, once all tied up you loaded your dly bag with bundles and pkts,
1 bag would be big enough for your whole dly!!!! you'd only make up 2 bag's if it was f**k off heavy,
jump into your car, drive out to start your dly between 06.45-07.00. return to office by 09.30 up to the
canteen for your M/R & a good laugh with your mates, back to the floor by 10.15 W/S if any, prep your day mail,
back out the door by 10.45 deliver last ltr ASAP.
There were less miss deliveries as there were more opportunitys to check for miss/sorts, the frames R/M use today
are far better, unfortunatly prep time would be less if the volume of mail was still at 70's figures therefore as with all new tech the price you pay is JOB LOSSES. But the volume of mail we get today ie 6/7/or 8 bags we are only making it work because of our own bad working practices every day trying to go faster and faster instead of going at an average
speed regardless of weather mail is light or heavy, the heavier it is the faster you go to try & get it done in the time!!!
WRONG MOVE!!! go at a steady pace and if you run out of time you bring the remainder of your dly back to the office,
The CUT OFF was invented by ROYAL MAIL'S introduction of SDD we are not cutting off our dly's we are simply
running out of dly time, R/M like to call it a cut off to make the pmn look bad, as if he's ending his dly early
because he can't be bothered.

Well I think I've said my peice, I'll go & finnish my dinner now tat-tar

Walking collections

Post by johnnyp »

Some of our walks used to do these a few years back. You would do your 1st delivery(GP)when finished back to the office where on the way you would clear 3,4, 5, post boxes in to your delivery sack.On arrival at d.o you would tip the work on to the faceing table, have breakfast then some would do i.p.s. others would do the faceing ,machine the letters, stamp the packets and then send it up to 9 elms, after that throw off your irish(2nd delivery)and go out finnish around 12ish.

Post by tyconuk »

Sorting the Mailsort, before going on 2nd del, and only having a handful.
Households, having two weeks too do them, bliss.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I could have done with that on Thursday - I got bit on the ankle covering another postie's walk  I just wish it happened on a strike day to one of the Olympic Torches
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Used to get 1 D2D item a month 2.5p each. Also was allowed to smoke whilst throwing your walk off, half moon ashtrays attached to your frame(like the ones on cinema seats) Had a bit of a shock when I returned to RM after a 10 year break, because of the frames, was used to the old IPS style.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

OLD Vs NEW.

Post by L Tommo »

In this instance the Newish RM2000 frames are much better for chucking off than the old Laying in IPS frames and More personal... Helps if your on a walk you dont know!! I Did 70 out of 75 walks in my old office and when on IPS frame you just bundled up buy roads n houses. But on a RM 2000 FRAME you can have it with breaks and personal ways of WALKING the frame.. In my view im glad i learnt Both types as the Old IPS made you good and quick with letters/flats. The Minus side is the double handling. The RM2000 HAS to be WALK SET and NOT for Car use... I Ended up Res No1 With all duties covered from OLD PHG jobs, To the back breakers of deliverys.. It taught me how to do all Duties Which i think EVERYBODY should be made to do in RM... The 3 week rotate was a bastard in MC's later on tho.... :d'oh! But on DELIVS im glad i did.. Its all how you space out your frame and addrs of all your walk on a RM 2000. when it gets heavy the frame couldnt take the amount of flats... Some ppl when designing there frame used double houses for 1 slot and suffered missorts on prep... Made there frame smaller but hard to prep on.. I made my final walk i was on a tardis... MASSIVE BASTARD and 657 drops it was a big round.. Loved it tho as i lived 5 mins away and after 5 years on RES i wanted a walk of my own... I loved making the walks up when there was a mini resign.. Got good docket for it as well... I used to row with the screws tho about the amount of UNFAIR walks in the office.. Some from 2 hr walks up to 4,HR walks...That was over 7 years ago. I soon was moved off of Walk Training and walk designing as the screws had it in for me!!!   :d'oh! Ohh well wot eva the walk lenght of time is.. WE NEED A GOOD WAGE TO DO THIS JOB.. A WAGE WE CAN LIVE ON NOT JUST SURVIVE!!! WORKING FOR THE ROYAL MAIL USED TO MEAN SOMETHING.. SOMETHING GOOD.. NOW ALL IT MEANS IS , WE ARE LOOKED AT BY OUR SCREWS AS IDIOTS AND DONKEYS!!! WELL THE DONKEYS NEED FEEDING AND THE IDIOTS HAVE LEARNT HOW TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED AGAIN.... SO PAY UP YOU THIEVING SET OF FECKING PARASITICAL FECK FACES.. PAY THE PIPER.. THEN YOU CAN CALL THE TUNE.. UNTIL THEN... THEM BAGPIPES YOU SOLD OFF WILL STAY SILENT AS A FECKING MORGUE!!! NOW FECK OFF AL N adam...

out

GERTCHA YOU BASTARDS!!!
