Xmas overtime - deliveries
Post-Pegasus Xmas 2008. What a thought!
A - Seeing at the management claim Pegasus-revised duties are working (they are not)
B - Seeing at the management claim "mail volumes are down" (in processing, probably - on deliveries, thanks to DSA , volumes carried out are up)
C - Seeing as management are having a purge on overtime in deliveries (even though the extra is warranted due to extra mail, lack of sorters due to cuts etc etc) ...........
One can see Christmas being a very unhappy and angry time in D.O's up and down the country. Lack of sorters means it'll be midday before we leave the office and us finishing well after 4PM yet they'll be expecting us to run round and do 3.5 hour+ walks in 1.5 hours and interrogating us as to why we can't "because the mail is down".
Ah, the festive season. Mistletoe, Xmas pud, the Morecambe and Wise special, the Queens Speech and the management LIE that appears every December - "but overtime is compulsory at Christmas". Our branch gets it's easiest win on that one annualy yet the screws still try it on amongst the newer staff.
With all this in mind I think I'll just work my duty hours this December. One can see the return of the Xmas delivery casual - not through planning but through panic.
Your thoughts please.

It will be a jolly cut off time for me, no overtime at all, so its looking like one of the easiest Christmases ever from where I'm standing.
Thanks to these two :lfo :cfo mail may or may not get delivered on time cos all I wanna do is work the hours I'm paid for!!!

Overtimeis NOT compulsory at xmas or anytime......if i dont get out of my D.O till midday due to the lack of sorters then i will have less than 2 hours worth of delivering to do (taking into account travelling times and meal reliefs).....they want me to work my contracted hours through the year and not finish early then they CANT expect me to work over them just cos its xmas

I'd love to get out at midday during Christmas pressure. It'd give me 30 minutes including travelling time to complete my duty. 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back. I wonder who is going to deliver the mail as so many of us will be doing exactly what Mr Crozier wants us to do. What about goodwill then? I hear you say....well, you can only withdraw it once and they haven't done anything yet to get it back have they.

Bloody Pegasus!!! It was updated from the A+ which itself was not updated. So nothing is going to work. Then we sell the info to Tom Tom ites and theirs dont work also. Technology is a wonderful thing shame RM don't know how to use it.

Have a break? CWU members have a break in my office is a lost cause untill recently when the Area Delivery rep got senior mangement to agree to enforce a minium of 20 mins break to be taken before delivery as part of a area aggrement for phase 3 which we will commence at the same time as pegasus.madelin4 wrote:your office will be fun at xmas..... everyone works to there finish time, have a break and all of courseBig Daz wrote:Pegasus goes live 10th november in my D.O, some members think its daft to bring it in before xmas. Pegasus has only taken one delivery out and the part timers are also moving from a 28 hour week to a 30 hour week so its not that drastic a change however my members do think RM are daft bringing it in this side of xmas.

I dont think i will be doing any Xmas pressure this year(the first time in 22 years)as our duties are 10 hour days and thats enough for me.Ok we may have a couple of nights put back in but finishing at 15.30 is late enough.Ive heard we are getting 16 hours S/A over the 2 week period(same as last year)but weve all got longer walks and it gets dark at about 16.00.

There'll be no OT for me this Christmas, as far as I'm concerned, they've burnt all their bridges and the excess managers we now have can do it :lfo :cfo
