One of my mates on a 30hr contract gets a pound an hour less for doing SA than i do, i find that very unfair as he does the same as the rest of us when doing it, can anyone tell me if this is correct, thanks.

Yes it is correct, his first 10 hours of SA are paid at his normal rate then he gets his standard OT so I'd advise him just to drop the SA.
