A couple of questions
1: Even low speed impacts can have serious consequences for an unprotected head.Spedley wrote:There are arguments for and against cycle helments
1) My bike only has one gear so I can't get over 10mph, why wear a helmet?
2) My bike also has no brakes so a helmet is better than nothing.
And you think I'm joking :)
2: A brake-less bike is dangerous to yourself and others. You're within your rights to refuse to use it.
I know the problem, the bike mechanic is too busy on other duties to keep up with the necessary maintenance,
and you wont finish the delivery on time if you walk or use a trolley. Well that's not really your problem is it ?
If you're only taking half a walk out because your bike's too dangerous to use, it's your DOM's problem.
Seriously folks, if Royal Mail came to you and said, "we want you to risk life and limb every time you go out",
you'd soon tell them where to go. Why choose to do that voluntarily ?
You've only got one head, protect it.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Had one of those bikes once. Have they still got rod and lever brakes?

Hopefully you are joking - in the event of an accident - you would be held responsible for the shortcomings of your cycle - if anyone has any faults they should be reported and if they aren't fixed as soon as practicable then you aren't at fault.Spedley wrote:There are arguments for and against cycle helments

A couple of questions
If you think drivers get badly done to in the UK take a look at this, http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/38.html road user charge and distance licence charges based on multiples of 1000 km
Road car licence similar to ours it seems http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/49.html
I went to the USA and they have toll roads nearly everywhere, Interstates and State roads are free, but Toll roads gets my goat.
we haven't gone that way so far apart from the London CON-gestion charge and M6 toll road
somethings are not too bad in the UK, compared to some countries lol

A couple of questions
Just found out that before 1982 you would have had automatic British citizenship if you took up the option then, this includes Australia, Canada, this changed when these nations asserted their nationality more and Citizenship laws was updated to reflect this and severing the last consitutional link between Australia, Canada and NZ, it is still easier for you to claim British citzenship as you have command of the English Language and most people in the UK like Aussies, Kiwis and Canadians, also if either of your Parents were British you can claim ancestry visa, this only by one generation otherwise your chances are just as good.
There is a lot of Kiwis in London about 12,000 I think and every year on Waitangi day they converge on Trafalgar sqaure for a piss up, you should feel right at home here mate !

A couple of questions
Yeah I did see a lot of NZers and Australians when I was there, we are taking over the world!! Does anyone know how I can contact Royal Mail directly to ask about employment opportunities? I've checked out the website and looked at the jobs etc. I'd love a rural job, maybe driving a van or similar. I've driven a rental car in England so I can use my NZ driver's licence. Any rural posties on here? Anyone want to swap their job with a NZer??? hahaha don't know if Royal Mail and NZ Post are THAT close!!!!!!!

A couple of questions
at one time it might have been possible to transfer in the days of the Empire, not now, there is one route you can go down is the Job centre (like an employment exchange) and writing a letter to a sorting office that you want to work at, there are christmas jobs coming up that would be one way of getting in and making yoruself known, I think a British citizenship is not required but you may need a work visa, go here to check your particular circumstances.http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/Sugarpie wrote:Yeah I did see a lot of NZers and Australians when I was there, we are taking over the world!!
