World-famous pram-maker Silver Cross, which has seen rapid expansion since being rescued, features in a new national initiative to help UK firms.
The company, which operates from Skipton, is one of 100 businesses enlisted by Royal Mail to inspire other entrepreneurs.
Silver Cross features in a new online service developed by Royal Mail to create tailored growth packs for businesses.
By filling in an online questionnaire firms enable Royal Mail to analyse the information to create the free growth packs.
These contain advice, relevant product and service recommendations as well as inspiring case studies from other companies of a similar size and type to theirs.
Advice provided ranges from information on finding new customers and keeping existing ones as well as ways of saving time and money The online service, available at royalmail.com/growth, is part of Royal Mail’s nationwide Partner for Growth campaign, celebrating success and supporting growth among the UK’s 4.4 million small and medium sized businesses.
An in-depth case study of Silver Cross outlines some of the challenges the business has faced, as well as tips for success.
Silver Cross chief executive Nick Paxton said the firm had been keen to co-operate with Royal Mail as the postal service had played an important role in its 500 per cent growth in the past six years. The company sends out more than 30,000 brochures every year as well as other materials by post.
Mr Paxton said: “We rely heavily on Royal Mail which, by providing a reliable service has played a key role in our continuing growth and success.
“Silver Cross has benefited enormously from the right advice given to us at the right time. Last year we were amongst the Sunday Times Fast Track 100. By being part of this campaign, we can share the benefits of our collective experience with other entrepreneurs, and hopefully support others in meeting their growth plans.”
Silver Cross, which makes most of its UK-designed products, including prams, buggies and child seats in China, has a turnover of £20 million.
Tim Rivett, of Royal Mail, said: “This exciting new campaign will help us reach out to our business customers and show them how Royal Mail can be a vital part of their success by showcasing how our services can help them improve the quality, cost and reputation of their businesses.”
