PARK & LOOP
There is a list up at work about the changeover to park and loop, two to a van on all but a few of the rural deliveries and with a loss of 7 bulk duties. What I would like to know is has anyone else been trialling this or has any other office transferred to this system and has it worked? We ran a trial for two weeks with two deliveries in a single van and that seems to have culminated in this.

Anyone anywhere have any information on this - although we are in disagreement, the managers say they are going ahead with this on Monday!

I don't know but I'd be grateful for any information from someone about buddy vans if they are using that system, it sounds the same.soltan wrote:Is this not also called 'buddy vans'.

They're trying to implement it in my DO but what they've done is take 2 rurals and add on a town to make a 12 1/2 hours delivery (even though 2 in a van is actually slower

How many does this involve? Our office is split 60/40 rural/town and we have been scheduled to lose 7 duties many post holders are senior and they are going to be displaced. TBH I think that that park and loop could work and solve a number of problems BUT it needs to be approached in a much slower manner and implemented piecemeal.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:They're trying to implement it in my DO but what they've done is take 2 rurals and add on a town to make a 12 1/2 hours delivery (even though 2 in a van is actually slower)

The status quo must remain under the I/R Framework mate.Has your local rep pushed this to area level?dvbuk55 wrote:Anyone anywhere have any information on this - although we are in disagreement, the managers say they are going ahead with this on Monday!

Its RM`s attempt to get past the 3.5hr delivery span (walking span) by putting 2 people in a van they can claim they are not walking duties therefore the 3.5 delivery span doesnt apply. DONT ACCEPT IT.GO TO DISSAGREEMENT.

Appreciate that jp. Rep has passed it up the ladder to area under disagreement but here it doesn't seem to make any odds because the membership aren't like the old days. They are about as solid as wet cardboard unfortunately. There doesn't seem to be any of them who use this site and are only interested in the next weeks docket.johnnyp wrote:The status quo must remain under the I/R Framework mate.Has your local rep pushed this to area level?dvbuk55 wrote:Anyone anywhere have any information on this - although we are in disagreement, the managers say they are going ahead with this on Monday!

It was put off for a week but it will begin this Monday - much of the infrastructure has been put into place but there are so many things that are "suck it and see" it's more of a lottery than a plan. Still what can we do about it, it has been agreed and that's that, but there are a lot of people unhappy with the situation, especially as things keep being added to their duties as the "forgotten" things come to light.
This is apparently part of the modernisation plan...............

Our del office has been trialling one duty like you mentioned. 2 people one van. they have around 4-4 1/2 hr walks each but through a system of 'leap frogging' basically do the whole lot as one walk. They have to do all packets and priorities for there specified area too. They're both F/T (which is the attraction from a union point of veiw - ideas to maitain F/T staff) they have no IPS or other indoor work to do but they're prep. One goes out for 1 1/2 hrs early to do pkts and priorities while the other attempts to prep both. The 2 people we have are real grafters and have said that they can get it done, however they admit to having to power walk for the whole stretch...hmmmm. There are genuine concerns that they may have had too much workload put upon them. And with my Area rep only finding out today that we have infact been trialling it there could be further issues as he said that golf trolleys are part of the system with H&S implications!dvbuk55 wrote:There is a list up at work about the changeover to park and loop, two to a van on all but a few of the rural deliveries and with a loss of 7 bulk duties.
