Belial The policy of the CWU was not to get involved in Pegasus until their was a national agreement.

Pay and mod talks about new equipment but pegasus is old was trialled in London in the fit to deliver revisions back in 2001.

Its the same old thing we carry a conference policy and then some units and Branch`s decide that they can outwit the planning methods within the computer package and some have but a lot have come unstuck and are now calling for a national agreement.

But it is too late why would Royal mail want an agreement when loads of areas have used pegasus without any safeguards.

In London all branches have a policy that we dont use pegasus unless we have either a national or divisonal agreement on its use .

dingo there is a lot going on that shouldn't be,i mean some guys were banking hours a few months back ffs.
Niggley litle bits are going on all the time,no one seems to want to know, branches, and reps seem to just get on with it.
If i emailed HQ everytime something dodgy went on that was reported on here,i wouldn't have time to go to work!

Not that HQ listen anyway when i've been asked to contact them.

Like i said before...let 'em make the walks bigger via Pegasus or whatever. If its too big then tell em you cant complete. Its illegal for them to force you to work beyond your contracted hours.

Stop freaking out and go with the flow. Remember : its a managers problem, not yours.

I'd like to see this as well, because we are going down this route, and we think better to try and have so input, rather than none at all, either way it's a s**t deal, but our Area rep has just done his office, so who are we to believe?

ditto my rep was fighting pegasus, (he is well known nationally) yet the management where still able to EA it - we lost 13 walks but 8 have come back since. We even had an Area Rep come round and brief us all( standing next to the DOM) and said we should accept it.

Thanks for the response Dingo.
So if I understand correctly, Pegasus has in effect introduced by EA and our union has no nationally formulated response to deal with it? Sounds like a shockingly poor state of affairs to me to be honest. All aboard the HMS CWU a leaky tub with half the crew plugging the holes and the other half drilling fresh ones :hmmmm

if agreed at national cwu conference union should get its finger out and stop pegasus in its tracks before much more damage is done.
n.b. pegasus was never intended as a tool or means to determine how postal work or deliveries can and should be measured
pegasus was kicked out of canada for being unfair and unworkable
if hq know pegasus should not be deployed instruct all branches now

Belial no the whole reason we are in such a mess is that Royal mail have not taken executive action with pegasus. The fact is that local units and branchs have decided to ingnore the conference policy and get involved. Some have been tempted in by management offering a good call rate and some of the first ones came out with some additonal hours.

But now the planning values can always be changed to get the required savings and hence the recent disasters.

The point is there has not to my knowledge been one office who have gone right through the industrial relations framework and opted to ballot against pegasus .

So whos thought is it is it headquaters or is it the local units , branch`s or divisions. We now have areas who have introduced pegasus revisons by agreement now calling for a national agreement on pegasus and Royal Mail must be laughing their heads off why should they offer a national agreement when units are doing it without.

Some things at Royal Mail are bad,
They can really make you mad,
The tozzers just make you swear and curse,
When you're sweating off your gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If your DOM seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to aim your fist and take a swing.
When you go in the bog for dumps,
Don't be moody chumps.
Just grab your pouch bag and whistle that the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

for our rounds are quite absurd
And home is the final word.
You must always face the PHG with a bow.
Forget about your specials.
Boot the DOM right in the testicles.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]

Royal Mail’s a piece of s**t,
When you look at it.
Corzier’s a laugh and Leightons a knob it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Lets cheer when they go.
Just remember that the last laugh is just for you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistle]

Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]

Repeat to fade...
