On the contrary. There have been cases, where people have let minor H&S issues slide. And then they have been asked why they are not prepared to to something, when they break H&S rules for their own benefit. It's wrong, but it happens.

Are you really trying to tell us, that you have never come across a situation where that's happened. Either to you, or one of your Collegues?

You'll have to rephrase that one Andy, as I don't get what you're trying to say.
Staff may ignore H&S regs and get away with it, but that doesn't mean it's part of some Grand Conspiracy by RM (or "royal fail") to let standards slip, it just means that SOME staff are dumb and/or bone-idle.

Err yeah.

A single incident - not a chance of it progressing to bigger lapses or breaches of H&S. But ......... if continually being advised of the same occurrence with no action being taken to rectify it surely this would make anyone question an organisations commitment to H&S.

@trueblue terrier i agree totally. Royal Mail do not, in my opinion, put H&S first, priority is clearing the work.

@everyone i see andys point and its true you let one thing go and then another then another then all hell breaks loose, my mail centre has managers pushing two yorks at a time, trucking work ALL night and runnimg machines when they have never even been trained on them!!! How far would they wanna break the rules?

@bogstandard unfortunatly i have been pushed into a corner and been made to change my break times. My rep has been lied to by my shift manager about stuff i am supposed to of done and i now think it may be a vindetor with regards to my shift manager.I was told the shift manager is watching me specifically cos he claims i leave early yet others are not watched. (These include some that have same start time as me and come in half hour late every single day and then leave approx. 45 minutes early cos of the area he has been allocated too!)

What I meant was: If you ignore the SSOW, on something you consider to be a trivial matter. That will be used as leverage, for you to be "encouraged", to cut more corners.

For example: If you don't do anything about unstrapped Yorks. Then why can't you move 2 Yorks at a time, and why do you have to bother strapping the Trailier properly, when were running late, etc., etc..
