Regarding your recent story about a Royal Mail parcel being put in a wheely bin.
I have suffered recently at the hands of Royal Mail. Many times the postmen do not deliver to the correct door and I end up getting a red card put through a different flat's door when I have waited in all morning for it.

I then arrange a collection from my local post office online for a particular day only to find that it hasn't been delivered at the post office!

I then ring to complain to Royal Mail customer service who are unhelpful and refuse to give me a direct number for the Seacroft Sorting Office as it is a number they cannot give out! Therefore I have to pay the costs of an 0845 number to eventually get the engaged tone of the sorting office. A quick Google search for Seacroft sorting office and I find a normal phone number which, as you have guessed, is an engaged tone but at least I am not paying to hear it! After the weekend I go back to the post office to collect my package (hoping that it has turned up) only to find that there are now two parcels that have been sent to the post office for me from different senders. The second has not even had an attempted delivery at my house, however I am told I need to pay to collect it or it will be sent back.

Upon ringing the sorting office to complain and trying for six hours to get through, they state the postman saw that I had one awaiting collection and basically could not be bothered trying to deliver this second one!

Frustrating

Its frustrating. Yes I could arrange redelivery to my address for free but I will probably end up at square one again!

Other couriers and delivery companies, perfect every time, always deliver to the right door, and redeliver when they say they will!

Royal Mail sort your acts out, even the post office staff say how useless you are!

so he would rather have had another red card for the second item than someone using common sense and combining them
or could it be the two parcels were out and one card was left?

In my experience they're not even half as good as RM. He must be lucky.......

Yes, well not surprised his name's Richard - although I work for Royal Mail I am under no illusion as to their faults - however I too have deliveries from other couriers and some of them leave a lot to be desired - one particular case with an item in excess of £500 was shown as No access on the tracking site at 12.20 p.m. - strange really because there was two of us at home, and I have the front of the house on CCTV - no visitor until after 3.00 and not the courier. Despite being told by the courier that the item had attempted delivery and could not be left at any other address, ie work or a neighbour, the following day it WAS delivered to a neighbour without my consent.

I spoke to the company from whom I purchased the item only to be told that the courier was MY agent - cut a long story short after threatening them with a solicitor I eventually got the courier fee back.

Dont use Royal Mail then. Thats why theres competition. £15 for next day A4 from TNT? You get what you pay for afterall.

When a courier leaves a card I can always get off my erse and collect it.... it's only 25 odd miles to my "local" depot. Perhaps this guy should remember that he is not the RM customer, it is the sender. Perhaps he should have paid more for his parcel to be delivered by a perfect courier instead.... rather the cheapie unreliable RM.
Glasgow driver.

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?
A. People who'll post a letter for you.

Don't recall being over-critical of posties (not that I'd let my daughter marry one  ) but I was praising the RM "system" and set up rather than the bloke who knocked on the door actually......
