Just wondering if mailsort 3 can be left from friday until monday (or any other day for that matter)
This is a regular occurence - a few yorks of MS3 flats were left and moved away today. It seems odd that it would be brought out if they knew it wasnt to be delivered until another day.
Does this constitute willful delay or operational needs?

Yes it does. You only have 2 Working Days left to deliver Mailsort 3, by the time it reaches the DOs (1 Week total). If it was left behind on the Friday, but delivered on the Saturday. That would be fine. I know that you dont get any MS 3 arriving on a Saturday, but that's just because it doesn't collected or sorted at the RDCs on Weekends.pickaname wrote:Just wondering if mailsort 3 can be left from friday until monday (or any other day for that matter)

I was under the impression that MS3 isnt delivered on saturdays, hence the yorks being left till monday.
Is this management delaying mail?

It's not normally delivered on a Saturday, because the MS 3 you get on the Friday, should be delivered then (to reduce the workload on Saturday). Or it's arrived early, for a Monday delivery.pickaname wrote:I was under the impression that MS3 isnt delivered on saturdays, hence the yorks being left till monday.

MS 3 has a 5 Day turnaround. The first 3 Days, are used by the RDCs, to level out our workload (in theory). So the Staffing levels can be kept more stable. The remaining 2 Workdays, are for the DOs to actually deliver them. Basically, it comes down to whether you consider Saturday to be a normal Workday in Royal Mail. We've had a debate about this before, regarding the USO. But as I'm lead to believe that Saturdays are part of your standard working week. It must therefore be a Workday.
Personally, I work in an RDC. And we only Work Monday to Friday. SAWN is Staffed entierly with S/A. So we refer to it as a 1 Week turnaround. But it's really 5 Working Days.

The yorks of ms3 were placed next to the 1st and second class ips and then wheeled away when the staff ran out of prep time on friday. Can management delay ms3 if there are time constraints with 1st and 2nd intra or should there be a clear office no matter what class of mail?

They can delay them by 1 working day, because you have 2 to deliver them in. But they can't delay them any longer than that, or they'll fail. Which in those circumstances, would be willful delay.

Its part of the SDD agreement - DOs as long as they were SDD compliant and its was a shorter working day - 7 hours instead of 8, then MS3 should not be delivered. MS3 is easy to sport as it has an M instead of a 1 or 2 where the stamp would normally go.
Saturday attendances will be significantly shorter than weekday attendances. To assist this Mailsort 3 need not be scheduled for delivery

Does that mean that (for the purposes of MS 3) they aren't classing Saturday as a Working Day?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Its part of the SDD agreement - DOs as long as they were SDD compliant and its was a shorter working day - 7 hours instead of 8, then MS3 should not be delivered. Or that ALL MS 3 must be delivered on the Friday, to avoid it failing?
