Am being told by DOM that this day is blocked off . No one can book a days annual, I have days owing to me and have the following week off. So whats the problem?
Welcome Riverdale, moved your post into this thread as it is basically the same subject.
That whole week - Monday to Saturday 27th Dec 08 is as far as I know a blocked period for the whole of Royal Mail, it all comes under the Christmas Pressure plan. There is some hope that we may still all get if off as Postcom are not that bothered if it is declared a non-service day. The union is in discussions and if they can come to an agreement where we do D2Ds for the 15 Dec 08 we may get the day off quid-pro-quo, but TBH I think the chances are very slim indeed.

I think the 27th is outside the ban, days after xmas usually are.Not 100% sure though.
RM have stated that they feel 17M items will be there for us which is feck all.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
But,thinking about it,the way things are,i'm feeling we could fail xmas and there wil be s**t loads, and days after that as well, especially packets.

Its A feckin joke...
In the past all leave was blocked upto xmas eve, now 27th , what about 29th ,30th ,31st. They seemed to have allowed those dates!!
Ah!! but royal fail now says there is no pressure as they removed the o/t from the equasion. I've always wanted to not be forced into doing extra hours over the christmas period or at least the run-up to it why should we be the only ones to be to knackered to enjoy the festive season ? if they can't get it delivered then get agency workers in or employ more temps to cover any unforseen o/t that arises
as far as i'm concerned the 27th is or should be eligable for you to take a leave day if it's at all possible but no doubt you'd have many obstacles thrown at you by mr job's worth the dim, dum, dom
I have read an "email" reply from askallan which says we will be working normally on the 27th apparently our customers want their mail buisnesses will be working and we have dsa commitments and the cost of not working would be 8 million
Happy Xmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TBH I am resigned to working that day and hopefully it will be pretty light for us on deliveries. Its the night shift guys I feel sorry for as this will ruin Boxing day for them.
