Maybe so. But it's a big contract, and it is (theoretically) the greenest way for them to distribute them. Because we are already going to the Houses anyway, with their "normal" Mail.

In fact: If RM had bothered to get enough Staff in to do the job properly. It would have been a massive boost to our credibility. Then again: We're supposed to be getting run down. So perhaps they wanted us to fail our quality figures for 3rd Class. :hmmmm

Or maybe, I'm being paranoid. Still, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they AREN'T out to get you, eh? :hmmmm

Not strictly true I think you will find the average energy bill is up by £400 this winter, so these bulbs really are quite pricey.Maybe £100 apiece

That's precisely the problem, with the Lightbulbs. They expect you to take them along with your normal Mail, despite having to knock on the Door, for each one. It simply isn't possible, without getting a lot of Agency in to cover the excess. We've even got an entire Seg of Agency, simply tipping the Lightbulbs, sorting them, and loading them for Dispatch. Because it's simply impossible for our own RDC Staff, to handle the Workload. So if we can't do it, why the Hell are you expected to do it?
I'll tell you why: It would cost a fortune to provide enough Agency to cover the extra Delivery Workload. Whereas, we don't need that many at the RDCs.

That's the problem with running RM as a Business. Profits now come before quality of Service. There will always (in my opinion) be a lot of us, who are determined to provide a good Service despite the Management. But it's getting harder to achieve, as the situation deteriorates. :cry

Just a quick calculation ...
1) there are roughly 20million homes in the uk,
2) going by my office = 5 boxes of bulbs per day per 400 delivery point walk.
3) following from that, I'd guess at leaving three P739s for light blubs each day.
4) I guess at average of 3/4 mile from delivery point to delivery office (1.5 miles there and back)

20,000,000 / 400 * 3 *1.5 = 225,000 miles travelled every day (mostly by car) just to collect crap that nobody asked for.
Now that is what I call green!

Also, assuming 50% walk to collect, that leaves 112,500 miles travelled and at 35mpg over a short journey you'd use 14,625 litres (112,500/35*4.55) and at 2.5Kg of CO2 per litre that makes 36,500 tonnes of CO2 every day just to collect lightbulbs.

:chuckle So to counteract this negative effect we can construct extra thermonuclear reactors, and the resultant increase in radioactive strontium and iodine can in turn be offset by increased consumption of uncontaminated sardines. :chuckle Well good news for Portugal in the short term.Viva carnations

Even the smallest run in my office has 500 AP's, with the maximum being 800+

That's why I said that it was theoretically Green. The Public rarely (if ever) sit down, and actually work these things out. It's all about appearances, not substance. :hmmmm

That's always the problem with Politicians: They're invariably, more concerned with appearances than substance.

When I got my own lightbulbs they were equivalent to 40 watt and 60 watt. Bayonet fitting and I have a lot of screw fitting. Unwanted gift or watt!
