I think we would enjoy the job more if the goalposts were not moved everyday.

"Missort run is in takes your missorts or you will disiplined".

Next day: "missorts runs cancelled because we had too many cut offs yesterday. Get out as quickly as possible!"

Next day: "Missort run is in takes your missorts or you will disiplined. And when you have done that get back on the sorting untill 10.00 and throw off some of tomorrows mailsort".

Next day: "Why were there so many cut offs yesterday?????

I enjoy my job sometimes, but it a job at the end of the day, help to pay bills, help to keep a roof over your hear, it better than being on the dole.

and if it is true then I wouldn t boast and shout about it too much . Most posties are working their nuts off now and working their time and to hear you boasting about your finish time will piss most of them off.......nice one...............!

I have been in this job 20 years, I have worked in 2 other jobs in the private sector, before RM, its not a bad job all round, it was hard for me at first as I had the heaviest delivery and was parttiem and didn't finish until 2 pm whaen I was offically suppossed to be finishing at 10pm, I got diddiled out of overtime when I was a young sprog, I soon wised up and started booking them, an old timer told me about them, the screws said nothing, I nearly left after 3 years as i was fed up with some of the crap and did try applying for other jobs in teh private sector, it was very hard to get to an interview stage, eventually the job got better as I gained more seniority to get a decent duty, glad I stopped on now, its not a bad job all considered, money is way better than it used to be, if you stay in control of the work rate, you can reduce stress to yoruself and cut off if you need to.

I'm only in it for the money and the relatively easy work.

I'm enjoying my work now I'm not in Callers

especially now its apparently gone pear shaped in there. Whoever applies for my old duty I wish them the best of luck (they will need it!) and any anti-depressant tablets I have left

Been in there and also did specials dispatches, I hated it and the count of specials at the end of a working day, I usually come short as some people take out special to the callers end for collection by customers without telling me, just as bad is Parcels going missing not logged in then when a customer comes in and when we can't find it, its very embarrassing along with a p1ssed off customer.

Yeah, but I'm also old enough to remember that every time some buildings worker used to go on about how much he'd earnt that week (which always seemed to increase every time it was repeated) he'd conveniently forget to mention that that week had been a seven day week of 14 hour days and came with a bonus, and he'd also forget to mention that the previous week he'd been rained off/sick/no work and got nothing at all.
Even worse, SC60s were mentioned, and as they were for "scabby labourers" (to quote the slang of the time) rather than the 714s of sub-contracting tradesmen, big money was even more unlikely.
