It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think I mentioned a while back that there were only a couple left in our DO that were in the union and even they've opted out now. I'm afraid thats becoming common in some offices now. I presume the Union lost quite a few members since the pay and modernisation agreement went through.

Been a union member throughout my time with Royal Mail and not sure if I have feelings either way on that but then things have changed so much in last two years. I do know that most I work with felt it was not worth paying in anymore, for different reasons each and every one. Our managers are unusually good but guess its not the same all over.

Granted it is not the best lead union in the land and we all were dismayed at last year's fiasco!. But to change it you have to stay in it!. For apathy in voteing has lead to this situation and until we encourage democracy in our every day live's we will continue to have poor leadership!. Both in the union and in the land.

You won't be happy until there's a fleet of unquestioning droids doing the work will you...Night Tonic wrote:And with Copperas Hill one of the centres that gave RM a headache when it came to avoiding fines for bulk mail delay (remember wildcat strikes), it can be no surpise that it would nip another problem in the bud. You're right. A lot won't bother to move to Warrington and that snuffs out most in one swoop. Job done.

MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

Sadly, there's quite a few where I am, who are threatening to leave the Union. Although, so far, very few have actually carried out the threat. I can only hope, that they are bluffing, or we can convince them not to leave.POSTMAN wrote:Which offices?Night Tonic wrote:I think I mentioned a while back that there were only a couple left in our DO that were in the union and even they've opted out now. Time they put up or shut up then! Will as a result of withdrawing from the Union will they be treated anymore preferentially by Royal Mail?

I couldn't agree more. Particularly as none of them can be bothered to turn up to the Union meetings!
But we have to be careful, so we don't loose them. Not just because there is strength in numbers. But because they are the ones who are going to suffer in the long run, unless they have the sense to join an alternative Union. And actually make an effort with that one. Not that, that is very likley!
