was he right or wrong?

I was just wondering what everybody's views are on this case. I reckon the boy was within his right if he was on the public highway,maybe not the most chivalrous act but I dont see what the difference is between this guys picture and any other we see in the papers whenever women and binge drinking is mentioned.

Think it was a wee bit out of order,but given what goes on in Edinburgh during the festival,its at the milder end of the scale,which reminds of an incident at Waverly station 2-3 years ago,me and Mrs Y were heading back to Dunfy after a night out in the big city,on the platform waiting for the last train was a largish crowd o folk,3 young lasses were there and one of them(i kid you not)peeled aff her kecks and pissed on the platform

My words were,'Ya f***ing minging wee hoor'
her words were,'well I dinna ken any o youse and I wont be seeing you again'
When up pipes a female voice'oh yes you will Im your teacher and I will be speaking to you on Monday!!!!

Laugh I nearly pissed myself as well!!!

A POSTMAN has been fined £100 after he took a photo of a drunk woman while she was being sick.
Sebastian Prydgodzi, 28, said he took the picture because he wanted "another view of Edinburgh" during the capital's festival. But he was told by Sheriff Kenneth Hogg that taking a photo of a vulnerable woman was "exceptionally unchivalrous".

Rebecca Smith was sitting on the steps of the Omni Centre, near the top of Leith Walk, where she had been drinking on a work night out on August 8.

She had her head between her legs when Prydgodzi approached her and took a picture with a flash on his mobile phone. Miss Smith was "embarrassed and shocked by the flash", said fiscal depute Marie Vernon.

She added: "Her friends took hold of Mr Prydgodzi until the police arrived."

Krakow-born Prydgodzi, of Albion Road, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty in court yesterday to breach of the peace and acting in a disorderly manner.

Andrew Houston, defending, said: "The Festival was very much under way and he spent the day wandering around taking photos of the street performers.

"This girl was clearly worse for wear due to drink and, on reflection, this was an error of judgement. He was taking a photo of another view of Edinburgh and meant no offence."

Sheriff Hogg said: "The lady was in that position possibly through her own accord. But you should have walked past and ignored her. It was exceptionally unchivalrous – which might be an old-fashioned phrase, but that I am. It shouldn't matter whether it's a man or a lady, but it's worse that it's a lady."

I think it all comes down to why he took the Photo. Was he researching an article (he'd taken a lot of other photos too), or for a part time Course?
If not, he was totally out of order!

It's one thing to collect evidence to make a point (as in the BBC example), and quite another, to get photos of people in distress, for your own amusement.

If nobody's ever sick in public in Poland it was probably a rare sight for him that he felt he needed to record.
Seriously though, if taking a photograph can be interpreted as a breach of the peace it's hardly safe going out of the house without risking getting a criminal record.

What gets me about this story is he takes a picture of a woman being sick and gets done to the tune of £100. Paparazzi chase female celebrities trying to get pictures up their skirts/dresses and get paid £10,000 and upwards when they get "the shot". Disgusting double standards.

I couldn't agree more.

As I said earlier: If someone takes a photo like that, in order to provide evidence for an article, prosecution, etc.. Then fair enough. If it's for any other reason, then they should be punnished for the embarrasment they will cause to the subject of their photograph.

So what's the difference between this incident and all those reality TV shows which show people in all circumstances

As the police tell those people who object to being filmed 'it's a public area and they're allowed'

Anyone who objects to being identified on TV, has their face obscured. If you can see their face, they've agreed to it.

But I assume that this man wasn't planning on broadcasting her image, I just find it strange that one is allowed and the other is prosecuted.

I heard one story about a dwarf being used for those pictures of those women going commando & getting out of cars " ungracefully "

- Acceptable Tabloid voyeurism - same goes for" home movies " - it's exactly what the media wants - obsession with celebrity stops people questioning anything important
