Anyone explain whats going on?I'm getting about 10 letters/flats a day with a small barcode on. Looks like it's printed on toilet paper. Peels off easily enough (as they usually cover up the addresses). Cheers
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Is that not the scanning codes the sorting machines use?

Not sure, probably is. A lot I don't know about royal mail terms, starburst is a sweet, pegasus to me sounds like a dragon out of a movie. DOM i'm guessing means Delivery Office Manager? Phase 2 phase 3 doesn't mean anything to me. Induction really didn't teach me anything other than how to lift a bag and ignore dogs. :nana

Starbust is a old method of delivery which is rearing its head again with the "2 in a van", or "Van Share". Basically it means 1 van taking out a group of posties with all the bags, packets, recorded and specials for their deliveries.

Peagsus - In mythology its a winged horse. In Royal Mail its actually a computer prog that mythologically creates equalized walks capable of being done by all within 3.5hours, whereas in fact its nothing like that.

DOM - Yes Delivering Office Managers Cluster DOM is the same but they are in charge of a few small offices. SOM is Sorting Office Manager.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 are parts of the new pay agreement - if your interested you can see the Agreement in Downloads or 1 mans view on it at http://overpaidunderworked.blogspot.com ... y-and.html

The last bit - it would have been far better for them to teach you "How to lift a bag and Ignore DOMS"

I've noticed these barcodes only on flats though,
think they are to do with the flat sorting machines in the big mail centers
Good idea to cover the address up with them :Applause :Applause :Applause :evil/mad

Not a problem here to help as they say.

The stages are all part of a disciplinary process that Management must go through when dismissing anyone except in cases of gross misconduct or Wilful delay of mail. Normally used at the moment when people have a history of going sick, although RM do say each case is treated on its merits and each case is considered genuine unless evidence comes to light, however, they do tend to issue the Stage 1 and Stage 2's in nearly every case.

You can get full details of the procedures involved and your own rights and responsibilities by downloading the "Royal Mail Conduct Code" from downloads. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36&t=11808
