Has anyone else read the article about "Rephasing the introduction of Walk Sorting Machines" in this month's Courier (page 3)? I think it is as close as we will ever get to an admission from Royal Mail that the project is a disaster.
How long before the use of Pegasus gets "rephased"?
Gatwick mail center will be the first it says, it also goes on "one machine can sequence up to 12 walks in 45 minutes - an impressive 9000 walk-sequnced items an hour". It says deployment will be soon.
It still needs a postie to put it in the frame and tie it up and deliver it!. So it anit that good is it how much do these machines cost to buy and run and staff!.
So for a DO of 120 walks thats an extra 7 hrs 30 mins processing time ,cos the mail will have to be walk sorted by original machines before it goes through the WSM's .Not much savings there
Doesnt look good does it...but then bad business decisions and management is the reason we are where we are. Are you seriously expecting WSM's to solve the problems what with RM's abysmal track record?
Oh I forgot...the real reson were is such a mess is 'cause the workforce is inefficient, over paid and under worked. Forgive me for that major oversight.
