Are we obliged to attend and listen to these daily wastes of time? Ive heard instances of people being threatened with the conduct code for not being present.

As it could be deemed a reasonable request in an ET, I think you would be on dodgy ground if you were sacked because you refused to attend them.
Think of it as less time for you to do the job they want you to do and therefore more to cut off. Since I decided to make sure that I work to my time, I find these huddles more of a comfort break where I get earache rather than as a bind, after all more time away from my primary duties means less chance to get the work done.

You just can sit there and not listen or take any interest in the proceeding's and you don't have to sign any thing to say you have attended!. Infact you could do a search on here and get some bullsh*t deflector ear's to ware at your next huddle.
