You must be over here in NI, no branch just managers running roughshod over the staff.
the bad faith is classed as gross misconduct meaning a P45 , anything vague , obscure , anything that can be twisted round - on it's head sometimes ? will be used , all to teach someone a lesson .

There is a fear culture and union bashing element especially with the pettiness and overzealousness- there was a motion at conference that dubious charges tended to be leveled at reps and activists and the "process " was corrupt , problem was that RM had too many complaints made against it's managers , it was embrassing - RM don't go against their own so staff had to be "discouraged " .

The other problem was that after the horrible cases at Birmingham & Harlow - RM was threatened with investigation by the EOC & CRE , to avoid this , RM promised to put their own house in order with the usual panic and hysterical kneejerk mode .

All this DRAW stuff sounds like a Corporate / very USA way of replacing or sidelining the union , all that b*ll**ks in The Courier - " We can't possibly understand why half ? :chuckle the complaints are just registered but never taken any further " :chuckle

All eyewash to impress naive , gullible middle class people with no common sense or proportion ? :lfo :cfo , hypocritical b***ocks .

I've seen RM staff clapping and cheering when those planes hit the twin towers on 9/11 - nothing was done , it was "cultural " - next day newspapers were being waved about - nothing done , not "politically correct " .

Best recruitment sergeants that the slimy Nick Griffin and his vile BNP could hope for ? :chuckle :chuckle :arrrgh

niallm wrote:I know most of you will not be fooled, draw is a management pr scheme designed to get them out of the mire from successive independent reports into bullying within royal mail. It is now being used as a mechanism to intimidate staff and reduce their numbers. No rep or self respecting member should have anything to do with any group in their workplace.
1. Only the ambitious wannebes get involved, to progress their descent into the darkside.
2. At best they either steal your ideas and present them as their own or they pay lip servivce and do nothing.
3. They're only interested in cases that are brought against members, management almost always get away with it.
Forget their method and put your own complaint in, stand by each other in the spirit of solidarity and remember that however different we ordinary people are we still have more in common with neach other because of our class than with the boss and their agenda of sackings, intimidation and degrading treatment.
I completely agree with this. The DRAW group in our office are now highlighting on the walls on their notice boards open B&H cases (with the names changed) but is so obvious to what their on about. The management think though, that the sun shines out of their backsides and they cannot do wrong. What really got me, is the fact that the collection tins we used to have in our canteen which were for various charities and really people used to but their 1p's, 2p's 5p's etc in there from buying food in the canteen, but they were taken away coz DRAW said it was not a recognised practice to them and THEIR charity was the only one recognized!!!

People fumed over this and the fact that after the IA last year, coz there was reps on the group until this happened and this is where it went downhill, the facilitator OPG of the group decided it would be good idea to invite one of the strike-breaking casual labour employees up to the group!!! So that is where our reps stopped getting involved on that group!!

Thing is too, that they slag of their reps for doing their jobs and seem to think that they are above the CWU in the office... its unbeliveable it really is.

What got the support though, was the fact that they could do a "beer draw" every week (backed by the shift manager) and 5-6 people were missing from the floor every night to sort the draw group issues out (they even have aa treasurer and a chair and a secretary). It's terrible, so whilst management were asking for flexibility on shift (people to stay back to help clear), it was ok for people to be sitting around on the DRAW group or 3-5 hours at a time!!!

Whilst DRAW was a good idea at the start, it has now turned into a seperate entity that RM prefer... its blimmin dangerous ground folks, it really is...
there is a union bashing element to it , RM will set up "talking shops " populated by Reg Hollis professional busy body types off "The Bill" as a "replacement " .

Murdoch did that in the print industry and his call centres ----- The thin end of the wedge ? :hmmmm all about keeping things down and protecting their sorry a***s :hmmmm :hmmmm

DRAW and integration - opps RM forgot about that!

Our DRAW gruop has collapsed and folded
Good job too they were getting involved in IR issues. despite numerous letters requesting they take a step back and allow the IR reps to carry out their rolls to the chair they carried on getting involved in issues outside their remit with no qualms about the consequences of their actions or acknowledgment of their total inexperiance in these matters.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

DRAW and integration - opps RM forgot about that!

Reading the comments on DRAW here I am bemused.

My understanding is that anyone who thinks that they are being bullied etc, but is not sure, or just wants to get a problem aired can speak to one of the DRAW people confidentially. It offers another path. Sometimes speaking about something that is bothering them is all that is needed. It also offers them other paths to sort out problems.Remember also that the DRAW organisation is here to help make a better working environment.
If you have problems at home, debts etc we can help with these problems because if you have a problem, your patience will be a bit strained at work which may result in you lashing out or saying something you do not mean.
Remember also that there are three helplines available to you: Bulling and harassment
Family problem helpline
CWU legal and family helpline

All these are free.
Although some people appear to be bigoted and perhaps with some cause, the overall aim of DRAW is to try and prevent bullying and intimidation and make our working life happier. We are there for nearly 1/3 of our lives.

A bit of advice:

At work time learning sessions you sometimes ask/complain to the manager about something and nothing is done!

Insist that the manager writes down your complaints/suggestions on paper whilst at the meeting! Give them three days to respond. [Now comes the suggestion I find people find difficult to do].
Write to the manager reminding him/her of your request and what they have done about your comments. If no reply before or at the next meeting write to them again and to the mail centre manager stating you have had no response. Yo see readers if your complaint/suggestion is ignored and you are serious about it,you must write and keep copies.
A member of the DRAW Group should be able to help you if you have difficulty with words/content etc. Here's the rub, will you go and get help? This is one of the major problems that we must all overcome.
