Nothing knotty about it unless you see votes as something for the masses to vote on in sympathy and where the individual does not count at all. A vote is a vote, YOUR vote. Nots Sids or Jim on the vans. YOUR vote. If it isn't then forget ballots altogether. Dwelling on what could or should have been is irrelevant. The majority of those that voted, voted in favour of accepting the deal - end of. Life goes on. Whether Ward thought that was the best deal achievable and pensions had been taken out matters not. You still have FREE choice to vote the way you choose to no matter which way things are stacked. If you think the CWU were wrong, then opt out. Most too afraid to do that ofcourse. Bit stuck then eh.

I have to agree - the general feeling I got about the article was it was like reading a blog by some bloke in the pub on a Friday night and he just wanted to complain about something. Some good points, maybe, but drowned out by his distinct dislike of free speech. Perhaps he has never heard of the following quote:
“When complaining becomes a crime, hope becomes despair”

Are there positive articles about RM, being printed by the media then?

I thought all articles were put up on here any way, and we then comment on them, as a free society should be able to do. It's not my fault that by working for RM, I tend to see and hear all the bad things that happen in our business, I mean thats what happens when you there on the spot and not just a user of a service, I experience RM every working day.

I'd like to think that we try and make other employees of RM life's a little easier by pointing out the the CWU and it's various Reps and committee's are trying hard to make RM a more humane company to work for, and for RM to realise that we are in the 21st century when it comes to employee relations, and that we aren't traveling back in time, to the lords and surf of yesteryear.

Of course even though I'm saving RM money, by having a less than inflation wage rise, working OT for them, because I don't want to let the people I deliver to, down, and still get called over paid and under worked, by someone who in his time at RM has been paid something like £8,000,000, doesn't think the sun shines out of RM ass!

If you look at the old site here, http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/home1.php you will see that the last update was the 20th sept.
The new site has 6 updates now and when their article was published it only had 4.
3 of the new articles were about cwu.tv,leighton going and the rmc launch piece.
On top of that there was the piss take about the scots reading their po leaflet in welsh.

Was it the po piece that tipped hellmail over the edge, because it has taken them 9 whole days from the last rmc update to write their story.

And they were so excited in publishing it they forgot to change their front page.
Seems to me they have tagged the rmc bit on the front of an article in a big hurry.

I had made a conscious decision to use what is posted in the news forum and what is sent to me.

If it's there it goes up,if it aint.........

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It's ok Night Tonic, that wasn't meant to be taken too seriously - It's just that the concept of free will isn't necessarily the 'common sense' it appears to be.

Sorry KingTubby, I do get your point. In fact free will is influenced by a whole load of things we often have no concious knowledge of, upbringing etc etc. I suppose the point I was making is that we do have a choice in ballots even if that choice can be clouded by other things sometimes. As for negativity, we're not exactly singing the praises of anything RM, so White does have a point. That said, the site is mostly locked down so not sure how much that would influence the decisions of customers.

he's like Littlejohn once of The Sun now the Daily Mail , they call his stuff "spiky ", it works with some people as they like their prejudices confirmed especially if you lack the imagination to actually think ; it does sound very Con Club , Saloon Bar or Golf Club :hmmmm :hmmmm

Hellmail picks and chooses its own stories too. i don't see this site as biased as everyone on here who currently works for RM is speaking from experience so we are dealing with facts.

RM managers at delivery office level do lie to staff to feed their own bonus, maybe not everyone but most do and the same goes for area managers too. RM is not moving forward under the current polices in place whether we voted or not, using pda's is nothing new, parcel force has been using them for years and once these are rolled out to postmen/women then the true failure of special delivery will become apparent under the current working system.

I think that the saddest thing is that we have very few positive things to say about RM. Negativity in the workplace and in the media. We are constantly told we are losing business and revenue (no arguments, please), we are told our quality of service is a joke, we're overpaid and underworked, post offices are closing at an alarming rate and our Chief Executive is paid a fortune to run the service down even further (his salary and bonuses may be comparable to private companies, but we are still perceived to be a public service). I honestly cannot remember when we last had a positive media report, therefore we are only, in my opinion, replying to the current stories. Perhaps Mr White would like to print a list of positive stories concerning RM, so we can address the matter and post more constructive and cheerful articles.

Unfortunately with the present climate, I doubt if it is in Mr Leighton, Crozier or White's interest to provide either us or the public with any cause for hope for the future of a publicly owned RM.
