Post office queues get longer

Customers are having to wait up to 28 minutes to be served in post offices in London following the closure of branches, a watchdog group has complained.

Postwatch said waiting times of more than 15 minutes were common in the capital after 160 branches closed in the capital.

A study of seven branches showed average queuing times ranged from 11 minutes to almost 18 minutes, said Postwatch, which urged the Post Office to tackle the problem.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Another story along same lines:

Post office customers are forced to queue for half an hour after branches shut

Post office customers in areas hit by branch closures are having to wait up to six times longer for service than official guidelines recommend.

Some are forced to queue for almost half an hour after branches were shut down.

Ministers have told Royal Mail to close 2,500 of its 14,000 branches in an attempt to curb losses of at least £4million a week and cut the network's annual subsidy of £150million a year to £110million.

The consumer watchdog Post-Watch found that London, where 160 branches have closed, was worst hit by lengthy waits.

Times of more than 15 minutes were common in the capital, with some customers waiting for 28 minutes - around six times longer than the Post Office guideline of four minutes and 48 seconds on average.

A study of seven London branches showed average queuing times ranged from 11 minutes to almost 18 minutes, said Post-Watch.

Roger Darlington, chairman of PostWatch's Greater London group, said after meeting senior Post Office managers: 'We understand that Post Office Ltd will be reviewing their performance in this area over the next three months and we very much hope that customers will be able to see an improvement.'

The watchdog had warned that post offices would struggle to cope with the extra customers when the closure programme was announced earlier this year.

It also raised concerns that people may stop using post offices due to the poor service.

A Post Office spokesman said last night: 'We continuously review our service as we want to ensure we are doing all we can to serve our customers as quickly as possible.'

Branch closure plans for the final two areas out of 42 nationwide will be announced next week.

Quite the opposite I'm afraid axeman. They care TOO much. To the extent that we now have a new non-job role created; the 'sales manager' who stands behind the clerks listening to us to make sure that we talk to the customers about stuff. "Don't miss an opportunity" is the new line from above.

Queue out the door? = An excellent opportunity to sell to each one of them. If there is no queue the managers sh!t themselves cos no customers equals no sales! :left:
Credit crunch? = Perfect way to push our credit card so they can save money! (balance tranfers) ;liar
Global Recession = Great news! Offer our savings products to lock their money away safe... ;liar

No matter whats going on in the real world the managment have a line to counter any argument. Twats. :cuppa

For example, as you all may be aware of XL airlines failing.. Well, the kids upstairs knocked up, over the same weekend, a new advertising promotion for travel insurance that as its main headline notes; "We cover if an airline fails and will get you home, Phew!" Poor taste I think. To profit from the loss and grief of others, but this is the Peoples Post Office... :no no

So I put forward a few ideas of my own, all in the best possible taste of course. I knocked up a few pics on photoshop and sent them to HQ.
In a nutshell, the first one is of the twin towers collapsing, (bear with me), with that wonker ken grinning like a fool in the foreground saying "Have you got the peoples post office buildings insurance?"
The other one was of a tunnel in Paris. Yes THAT tunnel. And inside that tunnel is a picture of a car with its roof ripped off. Within that slumps a woman with the top of her head ripped off. Standing outside the car among the paparazzi is our intrepid hero ken. He is leaning inside the car and is politely asking "Life cover? From as little as £7 a month."

As yet have not heard anything...

This is a short video, also BBC. It's done slightly light hearted but gets the point across.
