If not, why not?
They've put you through a year of stress, and Legal battles. The LEAST they could do, is publish an apology in the Press. After all, there's always the risk of mud sticking, if they don't.
Andy - I knew RM would practically settle on the Courtroom steps - they've only done it as a damage limitation exercise as they knew they'd get shafted in the media - RM apologise
Crozier would get shafted for his salary and bonuses being New Labour's hired hand , it's just a game to these people and that's all it will be , their gamble is to hope someone rolls over and dies for them .
It's a result in a way for them as they'd be forced to admit they have a problem . Royal Mail do crisis after crisis management and siege mentality management - end of ! - if anything Senior Managers would say they are not backed up enough by Brown and New Labour .
RM DO NOT do planning .
RM would just blame Brown , the EEC , Postcon - RM have never done responsibility even before :lfo & :cfo - a very negative style - they'd just say there's pressure and no time - even with cock up after cock up .
They'd just say there is this plan to have whatever , whichever by whatever time .
At one time with their fit ups - there would be a scathing report on local management , the union would eventually get someone back - the CWU would publish something about nasty rogue managers
BUT it stayed within the PO .
However it gave Senior & Area Mangers a problem - if they threw local managers to the wolves - they'd be less likely to feed more senior managers with what they wanted to hear so the dictat was passed to back local managers up , no matter what .
On Planet RM - everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet - a result - very bombastic and simplistic but
Firstly even with all this ruthless commercialism - RM still have a management structure that runs for the benefit of it's managers , playing politics instead of running a business . With a 70's management control and a very top down regimented style which most businesses have rejected - everything is done by dictat - they don't manage at all - they do what they are told , it also means there is not many opportunities to impress - so when somebody is looking for brownie points - silly things happen - end of .
To the very last , RM parroted the lines they were told to parrot out - " Our Conduct Code is agreed with the CWU " - that's too evasive , disingenious and too economical with the truth , the Union are adamant that the H&B policy is fundamentally corrupt - there is an element of union bashing - that's why their assumptions are worded so obscurely and vaguely
.
Belai is right about knowing your place - if Senior Managers call for a culture change - this is how they'll get that culture change and the "sweetheart " union they wanted before those bitter strikes - which there is still a lot of bad feeling about .
If DTI Minister Hutton wants a "transformation " - this is part of the transformation even it means some RM managers end up in court as often as some petty criminals .
