Post by Shrops »

hello. Ive applied for a christmas temp job in Shrewsbury. Having been out of work for around 3 months Im desperate to earn some money especially with Xmas coming up. I was wondering whether there is a strict selection process and if succesful when would I start? Thanks

You should be called for a test soon which is to see if you are able to read basically.
As long as you are literate (which you obviously are as you're posting on here) they might offer
you a Xmas temp job. But don't count on it - it depends on how many people apply and how many
Xmas temps they are taking on in your area.
If they do offer you a job it could be in a sorting office or delivering mail.
As for when they start you, that also would depend on when things start getting busy. They usually
start taking on Xmas casuals around the beginning of December, with some starting in the second
or third weeks, and in my office they are only kept on usually until Xmas eve, but if there is a lot
of mail still to be dealt with after Xmas they might ask you to come back.
If there is not much mail though, they may lay you off earlier - there is no guarantee as to how long
you will get.
Good luck.
