NWpostie wrote:I did consider VR at one point twice, as was said before by some members regarding ex postmen, I have met ex postmen who have taken VR, some where losers in that they used the money to pay off debts, but no jobs, one ended up in a homeless hostel, , the ones that did get jobs, some private companies made sure they got their pound of flesh for their money, some got really good jobs, I do know of one who set up his own business and is doing very well.
Its down to what you make of it.

as for me, I have decided now is not the time for me to go, I have been in the job 20 years and have built up lots of grandfather rights and reserved rights in my wages as well as 20 years of Pension, so for me, no, not yet, I have seen a lot of changes in this job, the good old days are now long gone, its been killed off by some of the members rushing round, starting early, using cars etc , all we can do now is defend our jobs by doing it properly and reducing personal stress for yourself in the process, I intend to take my time and not rush. :cuppa
The only thing I disagree with you about, is the not rushing. Although I don't make a habit of it. If something goes wrong, I can, and do rush around to fix it. After all: why should the Customers suffer, because we can't pull all the stops out, to fix a problem. But it would be crazy, to rush all the time, as there would be nothing left to recover from problems. :hmmmm

when I say not rushing, thats not coming early, using cars, running around, packing as much as you can in one day to get home early etc

I prefer to work at a steady pace, not to fast, not too slow, just right, why get stressed and kill yourself for a few quid, life is for enjoying not stressing.

I didn't want to take VR, but explained very clearly that constant VR offers were demoralising : all you do is see us a liability and you would rather pay us to leave than do a good job

What sort of deals / terms / guidelines are RM using to work out payouts for EVR/VR these days?

How would one go about requesting if VR could be obtained and finding out what RM would offer?

No suggestion of EVR/VR at our place for some years now but there are people who would definitely like to leave by that route.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

be careful what you wish for, if you are under 55, you will need to get a job and in this economic climate right now, they are firing not hiring.
