Some of our runs are set to LOSE 30-40mins per day all because another has an easier time with traffic or due to the odd driver who wants to finish early cutting breaks or speed limits and some guys are that disillusioned with the way we are treated there are now a very large growing number who have stopped CWU membership and gone to TGWU.

I don't know how many other RDC's or MC's are getting or going to get this new problem, our depot are now using the information gained from the Isotrack system in the wagons and JUST BECAUSE one driver does not get caught in traffic on his run they are taking the fastest time and adjusting all the 318's doing that similar run no matter what time of day

The problem being that RM don't recognise the TGWU (Unite), GMBU etc as negotiators on behalf of the employees, so whatever the local Unite rep may say or do means nothing to RM management.
On a more practical level, the Unite rep can (and likely will) be refused access to RM premises on the grounds that he is not an RMG employee, so not much help when you need a work-place rep's help, or a "friend" at an interview.
This very problem surfaced in the mid-80s when nearly all the NCU area reps were actually BT employees and could legally be refused PO premises access.

As you have pointed out smudger the business has built failure into their system, so they must expect it to fail, or they are hoping that you and your colleagues will go that extra mile through possibly speeding( "which RM neither condones nor endorses"), to prove their system right.
See your rep from whatever level you can and point out the problems you potentially forsee.
