BROWN COURTING THATCHER (AGAIN)
not a good idea MrMcBean - as much as I detest Baroness Barmy - if ? she wanted to see the grounds - I'm sure it would have been possible to show her round - no publicity without upsetting anyone ; be it true blue or red .k979aaa wrote:BROWN IS UP TO HIS OLD TRICK'S ONCE AGAIN http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7611912.stm![]()

Brown is a retarded mong, he couldn't run a bath never mind the Country.

I have a book about the miner's strike which has a photo of Brown on a protest march with Cowdenbeath miners. How does Brown think they feel about his invitation for Thatcher to visit Chequers. It's another slap in the face to all the working people who suffered high unemployment, repossessions, the poll tax, anti trade union laws, I could go on but we'd be here all day. She encouraged greed and selfishness and her economic policies are still affecting us today. I think Brown must be blocking out the 80's or has suffered some kind of memory loss as he should be denouncing this woman and her government not courting them. He's losing it big time.
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite.

Or is he?
Remember how Blair effectively ended the political careers of Heseltine and Clark, by being pictured on-stage with his arm around each? The underlying message of "these are my puppies now" meant they were never going to be seen as future potential leaders of the Tories by the powerful right-wing back benchers.
Maybe Brown's playing a similar long game strategy too? Every election sees the the she-devil wheeled out to galvanise the Thatcherites, so maybe he's hoping to neutralise that little ploy.
Alternatively, who's to say he detests her on a personal level? That's left to the little people like us..

Brown ,Blair, thatcher,Cleggy, Cameruin,to focus on personalities is the biggest mistake of all. It is the system they represent that is corrupt, immoral and falling apart at the seams. You could replace any of them with one of ten thousand newly minted squeaky clean, sound bite issuing ,answer to all our problems fresh faced politicos, but the system still won't work.
Bye bye Merril Lynch, bye bye Lehman Bros. You going to AIG?
Bye bye Fanny Mae, Freddy Mac.
Funny to think that in the good old USofA, 80% of all mortgaged property is right now in reality and effect COUNCIL HOUSING

Watch out for AL and AC moving more to the right in their Politics , even more so with the combination of a looming recession (and perhaps depression) and side lining of Labour.
If it does happen then what has passed in the last 4 years may seem like the quiet before the storm or even thought of as "the good old days of flexibility"

it won't be subtle - been there under the Major Government - they'll want the stuffing knocked out of people and everyone softened up - the CWU will be the antichrist and reds under the bed - not that it isn't bad enough now - it'll just be worse !

What, you mean the probable imminent political demise of "MacBrown", "Bliar" and "New Liebour" maybe isn't so universally welcomed on here as it seemed even weeks ago?
You mean, the Tories won't be "good news" for us workers in RM?
That distant tinkling sound must be the sound of pennies finally dropping....

No they dropped ages ago - about the same time as I left the forces and started working for a living in civy street. They look after the services do the Cons, at least better than Labour do. 3 operational tours and I never had the problems with kit and equipment that the lads still in do. The accommodation seemed better managed as well.Tman wrote:If it does happen then what has passed in the last 4 years may seem like the quiet before the storm or even thought of as "the good old days of flexibility" :sad

However, as you say the penny dropped once I had to look after myself.

Tories,Labour no real difference the effect of their policies has been identical;wealth gap widens, poverty increases;state control deepens;anti union laws are maintained ; the right to protest peacefully is severely restricted, privatization of the NHS goes on at a pace the Tories could only have dreamt of achieving .

Most unlikely, despite what the prophets of doom believe.
Apart from the fact that RM still rakes in £millions through postal charges etc, it's still the only sure way for government departments to communicate with the general public at a personal level, and so won't be allowed to "fail".
How else is the NHS, Inland Revenue, local council, gas and electric utilities, phone company and many more going to contact everyone with thier demands for payment? Text?
