Hi all
our dom on tuesday said sat 27th dec is now a working day /no one allowed to book it as leave..this was said it was because postcomm would not make it a non service day.
I thought they said they would have no objections...and that it is royal mail that did not want us to have the day off and come in and deliver mailsort three ...
which is what most of it will be
any information anybody as to is it royal fail or postcomm's idea?

Negotiations are on going.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
If royalmail return all pension rite's to me that they took away from me on the 1/4/2008 i would have no problem of working on the 27/12/2008 but alas i have not recived any word of this so they can deal with my lack of good will in the season of good will!.
In the present climate at RM I cant see us getting the 27th off.. Throwing your dummys out the pram springs to mind!!! :cfo :lfo
Where the hell will it end???? Id rather be back at primary school....

That's only for layabouts like, dims, area mis-managers, and the totally waste of spaces above them.
we had so many letters ,and missorts that 2007 christmas eve was possiblyy our busiest day.the missorts of which there were many, didnt get delivered and werew still circulating for a good week and a half afterwards.in an ideal world it would be brilliant to have the 27th off but unless royal mail get there act together for christmas 2008 we will be clearing up all the cards ,packages that should have been cleared on the 24th.i realise qos is exempt over christmas but christmas 2007 was corparate wilful delay with scant regard to the general public.

Yes, but everyone out there will still be pissed up and eating turkey sandwiches on Saturday 27th, so it won't make any difference to them if they get their missorted cards on that day or Monday 29th.

I figured the idot manager was taking the 4 week period literally because I can't see how the we'll deliver mail for Christmas after Christmas.
I assume you meant December

They should never have changed the Gregorian calender to the Julian calender, or whatever - we've never been sure which month is which since then.

I thought the loony tunes mis-managing RM had abolished Christmas pressure, that because of, errrr, , falling volumes of mail, there was now, no such thing as Christmas Pressure? I've better things to do on Sat 27th Dec, and slogging my guts out for a bunch of pr**s like, Leighton & Crozier, won't be one of 'em !
