The magnum footwear is being upgraded after the CWU made it very clear the footwear was not up to standard.
The new version will cost RML £10 a pair more, so no doubt they will look to recover the increased costs of the new footwear.

Try ordering the Safety Boots, and see how you get on. They still leak like a sieve when it rains, and mine are falling apart already. But at least they don't slip, even on the tiles in Reception.
I have the Magnum safety trainer style shoes with steel toe caps, and they are slippy on wet surfaces, ie in the Gents.

Be "gent"-le!
...make sure when you slip in there, you don't get "...p*ss wet-through" ho ho! Our gents are normally in pristine condition!baldrick wrote:andy2007 wrote:I've had no problems with the grip from my Magnum Safety Boots. But I've been told that they have a different sole to the ones you get.

It's them buyers - it is!
It may well be down to the buyers - the people who procure the uniforms that we wear - a small group of people who convene in a crowded (and until 1st July 2007 - smoke filled, nicotine-coloured) room, around a table, deciding each postman's street cred, vis-a-vis "what we wear" *chuckles*.axeman wrote:...did you honestly think they cared about our feet or welfare ?

I'm not saying I didn't slip on surfaces that were neglected by homeowners, but I've slipped on surfaces in my new shoes that were never slippery in my old boots.....it's the shoes.dog bait wrote:seems to be alot of moaning about slipping in the shoes.i shall say this only once.it aint the shoes people its the surface your standing on.falgstones, tiles and alike get covered in algi which when wet will make anything and everything slide.basic h&s says dont even attempt delivery.remember home owners liability act.if they cant be arsed to clean them regularly its up to you to sue them to their senses

Mouldy oldies backfire!
Does the company provide money for non-standard issue equipment? I wouldn't have thought so, would you? In any case, mine ("Magnums") went in a puddle during the recent monsoon weather, and consequently smell like mould is growing in them, so... I am back on my previous pair, which are worn-down at the heels!vinnieb5 wrote:handed back my lethal magnums to line manager (after 2 accidents in 2 days) asked if RM will cover the cost if i find shoes suitable for our job due to health & safety. still no reply from management !!!
BTW: does "Magnum" infer that they "backfire" on you - just like the eponymous gun? If so, we've all been "shot in the foot"! Ho ho!
