Not much more to say really other than I’m truly saddened, sickened and embarrassed by what I’ve seen of this union in recent years.

What you feed us as seeds, grows and will someday blow up in your face. The hate you gave me, will eventually destroy you (perhaps, what goes around comes around). This great union will no longer be great when people see you for what you are!

No matter what you think about me, I am a Trade Unionist and certainly not a child of thatcher!

I think you sound like a working man who values solidarity but who is peed off with our union acting like RM managements reserve team. Some antagonistic rhetoric but exactly the same end result, sold up the river, sidetracked, neutralized,a big fat theatrical con judging by results

Low wages, appalling conditions and unemployment, bad winters and poor harvests in 1829 and 1830 fuelled a great explosion of anger, resulting in riots led by the mythical "Captain Swing" in November 1830.

Throughout England 600 rioters were imprisoned; 500 sentenced to transportation; and 19 executed.

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.

On the evening of April 4, 1968, while standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was to lead a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers of that city, he was assassinated.

Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962 and sentenced to five years' imprisonment with hard labour. In 1963, when many fellow leaders of the ANC and the Umkhonto we Sizwe were arrested, Mandela was brought to stand trial with them for plotting to overthrow the government by violence. His statement from the dock received considerable international publicity. On June 12, 1964, eight of the accused, including Mandela, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

When did any of you last fall on your sword?

Our fat cats in London, get paid silly wages, enjoy 1st class transportation and protect each other whether they're right or wrong. not to mention give cushy jobs out to the boys, whilst the rest of us are hung out to dry for what we believe is a good cause.

As for acting like a royal fail manager, (with utter contempt); up yours mate!

Captain Swing, which Union are you in?

As for "falling on my sword". Are you seriously suggesting that we should resort to violence, as they did in 1830?
Or are you referring to people risking disciplinaries and/or Jail, to further the cause?

If it's the former, then forget it. Violence rarely solves anything. If it's the latter, then what do you suggest?

Mahatma Gandhi, managed to achieve great thingsd, without resorting to violence. I much prefer his methods, to those of the real Captain Swing.

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not criticising you, or your views. I'm just pointing out that there are other methods, and that I for one, prefer not to resort to violence to solve my problems. After all: Gandhi managed to seure the freedom of his Country, without advocating violence. :hmmmm

I think Swing was on the sauce last night and just very angry and surely it's better for him to come on here and vent his anger than to take his anger out on others or himself?

Ghandi may not have advocated violence but he didn't stop his followers from using it to gain independence for England.

Dear all, I’m not, in any way advocating violence, merely venting my anger at a union hierarchy that is completely inept, over paid, with too many luxuries and obviously out of touch with its members and indeed some of its representatives. I’m totally frustrated by people in office, asking us to strike when they are on extortionate salaries and can’t tackle a basic human right for us, which is to be free from harassment at work from royal mail management.

They are well aware that royal mail’s Taliban managers are targeting and harassing, they’re well aware that we stand no chance within the tribunal system, yet they stand by and continue to advocate support for a political party that is clearly leaving us behind in support of tyranny.

We are, as reps, hung out to dry unless we play the royal mail game of total acceptance and compliance… How many appeals are now being won as apposed to a few years ago? Very few! We are in the grips of a tyrant employer who will stop at nothing to get their own way and what have we achieved… almost nothing, for if you can’t stop management bullying and harassing what is there… better pay? No, sooner or later when they have everything else, they’ll come after more of our jobs (personal selection of those they don’t like) and our pay.

How many offices complain of unacceptable behaviour by managers and in comparison, how many investigations has our union undertaken…? I’ll bet very few!

Ladies, gentlemen, the Taliban are breathing down our necks waiting for the opportunity to eradicate trade unions from the workforce, (supported by the government); in some places, the reps are nothing more than a management tool anyway. This trend needs to be bucked, we need positive leadership and we need royal mail challenged for past and future Atrocities!

I'm ready for a revolution anyone else? That was a joke!!!!

Yes, of course it's better to vent his anger on here, than in the Real World. But he's right about us needing to do something about our situation.

You're also right about Ghandi's followers using violence. But he always did his best to prevent it. As we all know, he failed to do so, but it wasn't for want of trying.
