do you think that team worries about their utilisation stats with the amount of people that go into the office every night

hi to all the MDEC keyers. Speaking as a member of the late shift, not having a shift allowance certainly
causes some intense discussions at times, especially when we are told that late shift Managers get the
allowance. Aren't utilisation and stats wonderful creations? We are constantly being told to improve
utilisation which is great for those of us who relentlessly key for whole hours at a time, but we have team
colleagues who continually return from breaks late and find random reasons to log out but they don't seem
to realise that they are included in these figures. It is such a joy to work here!

do you know we have those people on nights as well, it seems there are two rules for them and one for the likes of us who are constantly back from breaks on time and who sit there and key for their whole sessions

i just wonder sometimes who are the mugs :d'oh!

nah we have a smoking place allocated. It's further from the workplace so the smokers can arrive back at work even later. I actualy heard a smoker arguing that extra time should be allowed to them because of the move.

Get with the program, smoking kills, it killed all my grandparents and this is not news. This is an opportunity to give up. Not an excuse to skive.

Laterz.

That just shows how ignorant they are, I look forward to the day it is persistantly raining and they all return soaking wet from their desperate habit, incidentally it is rumoured that Managers are not adhereing to the new area, roll on 1st July and their 1st £50 fine.

or perhaps change it to

if a manager says the sky is blue, always look out the window and check cause they may be lying, or they had to check with the DOM and are 1 day late in telling you.

I think it should just say "All Managers are lieing c***s"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Good points at Plymouth MDEC

Post by Codebreaker »

Well the pay is not all that bad but I am pleased that the Union have passed a motion at Conference to get the job re-evaluated with a view to getting a higher grade and so more money in our pockets.

The Management are RUTHLESS in their application of the Attendance Procedure - I do not sense from my workmates that the discretion that is always available to them at any Stage meeting is very often used.

Well thats one good point and one not so good but it's the best I could do!
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Pay? I am sure is perceived as okay - the reality is MDEC Keyers are the LOWEST paid workers in Royal Mail.

Discretion? In application of Stage Warnings? It does not seem to exist with many Royal Mail Managers at MDEC.

ah! MDEC :)

i earn more money here than i did as a supermarket manager.
i get up at about 10.30 in the morning, meaning that if i choose to go out then i don't have to get up early.
i can leave work and not have to think about it while i'm not there.
i can listen to music/radio.

all in all - i like it (unpopular opinion i know, but if you don't like it, don't work there.... easy)
