Is it national that overtime is 4 hours for a full walk/2 hours for 1/2? Causing bad feeling in our office as only the part-time mugs are doing it at the moment and selling us down the river.

OT is whatever you agree with the manager (if he's stuck ask for 10hrs for 1/2 a walk and watch him squirm).

I once asked the same question to our union rep many moons ago .His answer was you are only allowed to book how long it actually takes!
So best bet is ask the manager how much he's paying . 2 hrs for half a walk sounds fair to me ( thats delivery only )
If you have to throw it in and prep it F**k them .

No ghosting of overtime either inside or outside of your regular duty - conduct code if youre caught doing it (supposedly)...you book however long it takes to do it.

At present if you and your manager come to an agreement over how much Ghost overtime you get for doing all or part of a walk/duty is not at present illegal. If you don't come to a pre-arranged agreement and book 4 hours for doing 2 hours you can be conducted, dismissed or even charged by the police for fraud. At least that's how I understand it.

However, when the phase that includes working all hours paid for - Ghost overtime even with Management agreement will be a thing of the past.

As I said...Ghosting at my office is now a thing of the past...according to the sector boss.

The only thing is when they brought it in, the amount of names on the OT list dropped dramatically so now managers turn a blind eye in order to get the work out and ask DO's "to be honest" about how much they claim. Obviously if they need to catch you at it they will say you were told and out the door you go.

They have a point though...why should you get paid 5 hours overtime for a whole walk when the walks are 3 and a half hours long?

Most places of work have a sensible overtime rate ie time an a half!. Not time and a fraction of a nats DI*K and you get paid less than your first 40 hours if you work over 50 hours!. Does time speed up after 50 hour's work or is this whole load of bullsh*t outdated since the pay and mod agreement!.

I once sent an email to askallan@royalmail.co.uk about the p*ss poor OT rate. The reply said that the OT rate was there to encourage us away from OT and to help push up the basic rate. It certainly encouraged me. I very rarely work OT except at xmas because of the customer and maybe to buy gifts for loved ones  This year has changed my perception of helping the customer because RM dont give a toss about them so why should I?
They want me to work my 40 hours in the summer so they can get 40 hours out of me in the winter too

So is that why royalmail last year about march time said we can only pay you all a one off payment of £400 and you must to get this agree to all we demand!. Hell no we all said and they came back with £600 and all you have to do is all we demand!. In the end we got 6.9% and a lump sum of £150 and they still did not get all they demanded from us!. THE POINT BEING IS THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING TO STOP OUR BASIC WAGE RISING AND DRIVE DOWN THE WAGE BILL!. :cfo & :lfo

Sounds about right,3.5 hours for the delivery and 30 mins travel time there and back average.

I still negotiate anything I do extra or as a favour!! Allways have done and allways will! I only have to say no!! No matter what the going rate is for doing something, I will only do what its worth to ME!! If somebody is prepared to do i for less more fool them.. And sometimes they do, Twats!! If extra duty takes 2 hours I want more... Its not wrong!!! When I have already been out on delivery Im shagged, RM want more IT COMES AT A PRICE!! right or wrong its my call!! Phase 3, 6 or 10 call it what you like, my life my choice!! :cfo and :lfo feel no guilt when they take their CUT.... Nor do I.... :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

Doesnt sound right when you have DO's doing docket on a delivery over the road from their own. In densely packed town walks 30 mins travel there and back is nonsense. In any case the official travel time to and from a town walk is only 15 mins. 3.5 hours + 2x15 = 4 hours.

If you had to go back to the office to get the first back at 14:18 then it would make sense. But most DO's dont do this and actually start and finish the OT within their own duty time.

Its pretty unfair on those that would like to do docket but cant because of the later starts. Really, you should only book the hours you work.

When ive done my round and get back to office (on time) and am asked if I would take out more as OT bearing in mind im tired and hungry and knackered Sorry peeps but its my call!!! If targets are so important to be met then I decide at what price im prepared to do it for!!! If thats not good enuogh then find another mug... As someone rightly said thats market forces for you! At the end of the day we are only money making objects to any company!! So its only right when the boot is on the other foot...
