Thanks for posting "johnnyp" and as you say 3.5 is your limit in your office!. But i hear from up and down the land that this is not the case and royalmail are pushing our union reps and our postmen/women to go for longer delivery span's!. This too me is unacceptable i have done walks and still do to be outside for over four hour's!. REMEMBER IF YOU ARE LUCKEY ENOUGH TO WORK IN AN OFFICE YOU HAVE FACILITY'S SUCH AS TOILETS!. Are we destind to crap in the street's like paula raddclife?.Enough is enough we now all have to draw the line and make our stand!. LETS MAKE OUR STAND NOW!.
Well, I personally do 3.5 hours generally speaking: anything over, and I book it down. I'm not contracted full-time, by the way. In the office, if someone feels they can't do a full duty - for whatever reason - they tell the manager in advance where they can deliver to on the frame, and the manager then goes and finds other people who can cover the remainder of the walk: that includes the managers themselves: we regularly have managers going out to all sorts of places - including out of the district and doing parts of walks or full walks.

I blame the CWU for putting us on the frontline in this position. Phase 3 has left reps fight for themselves and if you have no rep then you are in an even worse position.

There was a meeting in edinburgh, last week with Royal mail and the CWU,the 4 x 10 hours was discussed, last letter 1500 in town,1600 on a rural
My own delivery (rural) is approx 4hrs-4.30 on a quiet day,lot more on a heavy day, incidently have any delivery posties in KY FK area, noticed the huge increase in mailsort over the last 2-3 days?,we were told by our line manager to stream all the mail sort,to make sure we finished on time, cant remember that happening, and being offered diversions on Sunday?,where have they beeen hiding all the mail?,maybe the traffic figures are wrong?(surely not? ;liar )
The more you know, the worse it gets.

What the hell is happening to RM?
I remember when we all had deliveries of 1/1.5 hrs and we all moaned about it!
Being a senior/mature postie can you all imagine what health problems will befall everyone in 10/20 years of 4/5 hr walks, whatever will RM conjure up next?
What will everyone who reaches retirement age have to look forward to?
A new zimmer? or a retirement with constant health problems?
Lets think about it, take a few minutes to reflect.
As Saga has written 4hr deliveries is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE.

My grandfather got a ruptured aorta after being crushed by a coal wagon earning money for these scum, and my step grandad died a long painful and lingering death from an industrial disease ,Which at the time these scum said was nowt to do with the work he did for them. We haven't got far have we? Will we ever learn?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Your 10hr shift as apposed to a posties 10hr shift plus a 4+hr walk,me things it would be a lot different!

Don't get where you're coming from.

We used to do 12.5 night shifts, seven on the trot every month, 12.5 hour Saturday and sunday day shifts, etc etc. Still do 13.5 hour Mondays (days into lates) every fortnight, plus a week of 10 hour nights every month. :whistle
