PS one of our posties asked to take the suposed VR on offer and was told he had to find someone willing to do his round for nothing, if not his job was not redundant and somebody else would have to be employed to do his round. He tried to progres the relocation of a person from another office or part of the business, which I think is permittable under the reduntacy regulations, but was told NO. He is currently triing to find a free replacement from another office but with no joy.

Any advise (PS he has 30 years service and is 57 years old!!!)

IF evr is offered it usually means that the office has a surplus of staff which means your mate would go and his job would be advertised in that office as there has to be a reason for him to leave the job. If there is no surplus then evr is not offered.
It would not be his responsibilty to cover duty which is left. If he comes into the criteria for redundancy under the MTSF agreement then he either says yes or no to the offer . If he says yes he gets his money gets his finishing date and off he goes. If he says no it moves on to the next person on the list.

Yep also you simply cant blame people who just dont give a toss about the job and is simply a wage for them to live there life RIGHT NOW, thats how some people live, day by day. These people have as much right as anyone else to do with their vote whatever they wish.

mate i know people who started at rm and then got 'whirlwinded' into joining the union without even knowing what they were doing and over time they have just left it, not everyone is as militant as you mate some people just goto work for money for that month and are maybe planning different futures than sorting mail forever THATS WHY SOME PEOPLE HAVENT VOTED imo

It's simplistic to say lets all stand together,but many people feel let down by the union,they've paid in for years only to see the union grap the
headlines nationally,while royal mail attack every office selectively.
One thing that's undisputable is we'd be far worse off without any third party interest,however we live in a democracy and people have a choice(it's
them that have to live with it)
Of the people who appear to have not voted,many simply have not received a ballot paper and this must be addressed,but whats done is done,and
the ball is most definitely in the unions court
Look around your office and see how many people have started in the last 18 months,how will the changes affect them,what hours are they on,who
can they trust,but more importantly are they as passionate and commited as many on here appear to be.
Call them strike breakers in your ignorance but it's your union who've allowed this to happen,many have got what they've wished for, but there will be
changes,it's just at what cost.

lmao!! chill mate, ive said in nearly ALL my threads im involved with that im seeing my yes vote through!!! Need to learn to read properly maybe instead of jumping on the bits you dont like.....You make me laugh anyway but no i aint a 'screw' and even tho i get paid WEEKLY as an ex-PHG (same as u eh sonny) i tend to live monthly cos of bills and thats how the wife does it :p dont look too deeply into every word poirot!!! I can promise the mods of this site i am not a gaffer i am an ex phg and im not taking the piss,i suggest if people dont like any of my thoughts or theories( some are controversia so what) that we discuss them in a civil way or just would you kindly bypass any of my comments and move to another thread more suited to your views :)
