Hope you get well soon Majeed and that it does not affect you too much. Don't forget to get an accident report on to the ERICA system and see your rep as soon as you can.

Get well soon.

Thanks Brother Terrier. That is useful news for me. Will do. The DOM and the managers were very nice to me when I returned to the DO. I'm ready for tomorrow, inshaa-a Allah!

No point asking me how my day was - we're not supposed to swear here anymore, are we! But I heard on the grapevine that Tonbridge had something like 50 break offs yesterday :left:

Yeah - we staggered all of our Ramadan begging letters: there were s**t loads! But fifty break-offs: that is amazing. Where does all the mail come from?

Can I offer a perspective from the Network side of the business ? I am based at the NHCDC Regional Distribution Centre in Hatfield.

We walked in to 1000+ cages of inward Mailsort 3 waiting to be processed. This compares with recent traffic levels of 400-500 cages  The volume of magazines we handled today was unprecendented, at least in my experience. There's a lot of heavy lorries trundling down to Tonbridge, Maidstone, Canterbury, and Dartford today, so I'm afraid it looks like a couple of heavy days coming up in deliveries for you guys

Still, look on the bright side. Soon be Christmas

Funny how the managers didn't bother to go round asking (begging?) people to stay on for 30 minutes under the flexibility agreement. It's not like they haven't done it several times already. I guess it's because we were so swamped with work that even a fool could see that on a day like today, it would have made only a small dent in the amount work that was rolled over onto the incoming shift. :left:

Now, that's ruined my day off tomorrow - if I wasn't going to get my bike sorted and MOT'd, I would be going through my "little black book" to make a rendevous.....now it looks as though Sevenoaks DO is going to get shafted :evil/mad

Thank you for the insight: it's interesting to know why what happens due to changes elsewhere in the pipeline. Not surprisingly, the double-capacity was reflected in the incoming mail profile at our DO. BTW, what is "Mailsort 3"? Forgive my ignorance, but I thought there was only one type of Mailsort... and what is "NHCDC"? Image

Not a bad day at all today for me, no packets well less than half a bag which is rare for the walks in our office  Wasn’t a log of magazines, one of the better Wednesdays I’ve had for a long time! :chuckle Now I bet tomorrow I am going to be hammered lol

Oh well looking forward to my long weekend! bring it on :cuppa

This week has been a 'mare on deliveries, mainly due to massive amounts of magazines/brochures/catalogues. DUM predicted the business would lose a predicted £30m in revenue this Autumn due to credit crunch. Not happening yet.

The "quiet" day of Monday, where duties are half an hour less - 2 cages of mailsort left on our postcode section & overtime booked.

The "quiet" day of Tuesday, where duties are half an hour less - 3 cages of mailsort left on our postcode section & more overtime booked.

Wednesday - 2 cages of mailsort left, monstrous amounts of overtime booked on extended delivery. Was that bad DUM even came out of office to look at it.

Thankyou Pegasus - going to have to get an accountant at this rate. Come and do some walking at ours Mr :cfo , you'll earn more - thing is, you'll have to work for it.
