As far as I can tell, you're spot on about the DSA. I've made a similar suggestion myself, although no-one seems to want to put a counter argument forward. The same thing is happening with POSTMAN's point.k979aaa wrote:Royalmail only makes money on mail it processes from start to finnish i think they only count this mail and dont count the DSA mail becase we lose money on it. And royalmails share of the market has shrunk and their mail volume's are down why count mail we lose money on and it is to keep us all thinking about our future!. If you tell a lie long enough people will start to believe it so they say!.
I can't see any other logical explination for the blatent discrepancy. After all: if the figures really were out by as much as they appear to be. The Auditors would have been in before now, and heads would have rolled. And more importantly: DSA is actualy the (so-called) Competition's work, not ours. So it would be difficult for RM to justify listing it as our work. I know that we deliver it, but the Customers aren't directly paying us for it. It's only the Competition, who pay us a pittance for completing a task, which they are totally incapable of doing for themselves.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Mail volumes through the automation aren't measured in weight or profit earned, but purely on a letters processed count. RM machines are clever, but not quite up to weighing or profit calculation. Yet.POSTMAN wrote:HA!Well, get out of that one!HellmailMail wrote: Volume is calculated not on weight but on mail that is actually making money. Sadly, much of it isn't making money at all.

Last paragraph
"Royal Mail like every other operator, has been reporting a steady decline in volume every year and what it delivers today is nowhere near as profitable as it was some years ago. With competitors sorting mail themselves and using Royal Mail to deliver it via access agreements, Royal Mail would need to be seeing volume at least double in size just to maintain revenues as they once were. Mail volume is in annual decline and the world is becoming increasingly dependent on the Internet as it's communication tool of choice and whilst that continues, advertisers will continue to invest more in online advertising. For postal operators it will leave little left, other than parcels, that is really profitable. Mail volume is calculated not on weight but on mail that is actually making money. Sadly, much of it isn't making money at all."

What I meant was: Just because one News source say something, doesn't always mean that it's right. I never rely on just one source of information, as mistakes, and/or bias can creep in.

It states quite truthfully ,"mail volumes are declining", but the sentence highlighted in red appears to be an oblique reference to mail operators being judged on profit rather than amounts carried.
That may be true in his simplistic world, but it's not in ours.

MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

SO THEIR IT HAS PROVEN TO BE A LIE ALL ALONG!. Mail volumes have risen as DSA has and now this lie has been exposed so has the their :cfo & :lfo true intentions!. THE (MASTERPLAN) This plan envolves transfering large amounts of buisness to competitors ( TNT, UK MAIL, DHL) after all who fought our corner in the negotiations between postcomm and royalmail!. They did not try very hard for a fair access price did they?. Of couse they will lose their job's in the long run but i am sure TNT, UK MAIL, DHL, will offer them a job!. AFTER ALL WHO NEEDS COMPETITION WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE IT AT THE TOP OF THE OPPSITION!. :cfo & :lfok979aaa wrote:Royalmail only makes money on mail it processes from start to finnish i think they only count this mail and dont count the DSA mail becase we lose money on it.
