Ten years this past June! One office, began as a casual on a weekly twelve hour contract (even an office cleaner during this time!). Progressed to a full time split-shift duty (bag carrier in morning, collections in the evening) for a year then a further eight years as a reserve/rest day relief. I now know 80% of all duties including walks, firms and rural and am probably one of the most experienced in our office regarding inward sorting etc. Decided to use my experience to help better the office by taking on the Union Rep thing...what a mistake.
After nine years (!) I finally get my own single (rural) duty complete with a little van (no cd player though) and familiarity with the customers at last. Then it all went wrong... :Very Happy

I have managed 26 years 7 months hard labour so far, all on deliveries;
not bad going considering I told the wife I would be lucky to last a year!
I was only 21 when I started, where have all the years gone?
One old timer said 'don't worry son we have taken a vote on working Mon to Fri and it was just rejected; it will come in shortly!'
Nearly 27 years later; If I could find him now!
Still, I have worked with some 'crackers' over the years and experienced loads on deliveries which I am sure would fill many a book.
The changes over the years have been like the film 'the Good, the Bad and the downright plain stupid!'

:chuckle :Very Happy :hmmmm :arrrghhh :nervous :wave
