Hello I am thinking of getting a transfer to Manchester from the south where I am based now. Does anyone know any good offices to work at. Or should I say best of the worst offices the way Royal Mail is already at. Also does anyone Work at Manchester MC? What shift hours are available there and is there regular over time? I will probably just end up trying to find another Job to suit my other interests outside of work.

You may find it hard to transfer to any MC in the North west area for a while as they are closing some and moving others. Manchester is to stay I believe but they will probably transfer some people from the closing ones and they'll probably have priority.

As to DOs you will have a better chance but options will be limited for the same reason. However, you have nothing to loose in trying.

Be prepared to lose hours though, if a 40hr transfers into most DOs they only get 25 to 30hrs

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I currently work in a D.O lets just say around Manchester :nervous
and i would'nt fancy your chances of getting a F/T contract, i enquired
about a transfer to a office within the the same postcode and was told they wont touch you
if you have any stages, and could only offer you part time.
Having said that please dont take it as gospel as thats only what i was told by the "MANAGMENT" ;liar
Maybe i'm such a good postman they don't want to loose me :Sick
Good luck with transfer.

You could try the RM jobs site, though they do not necessarily show all vacancies.

You might find it tough as if people losing their jobs in MC they might be moved to Delivery office to cut down on redundancies payment.

So you might need to get a new different job.
